Nintendo Switch 2 It has set an impressive new sales record and in Japan it was over two million units. The latest sales chart shows that Nintendo Switch 2 continues to overcome other consoles in terms of current sales.
Nintendo Switch 2 was gone to the star start, even overtaking the sale of the original switch. With other main hitters that come to Switch 2 in the future Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Pokemon Legends: Forand HYRULE WARRIORS: Age of imprisonmentThere is a great chance that these figures will continue to rise. However, the system has already achieved new performance.
Nintendo Switch 2 reaches a new milestone sales
According to Famitsu, Switch 2, the sale of hardware in Japan is still leading and has just exceeded 2 million total sales in the country. Although it is relatively small compared to six million units, Switch 2 has sold overall worldwide, the fact that Japan has reached a third of this issue separately is quite impressive. Interestingly, Switch 2 met the same milestone in the US less than a month before August 2025. The system currently exceeds other consoles, including the original switch, with switching 2 sold about 44,000 units per week in Japan, while the basic PlayStation 5 was 10,000.
This is not the only way to overcome their competitors. Compared to the sale of the console only in Japan now Switch 2 doubled the sale of the digital edition of PlayStation 5 and sold 8x as many systems as PlayStation 5 Pro. However, the Switch 2 would have to sell almost 4 million consoles in Japan to compete with the total Base PlayStation 5, so it is clear that Sony still has strong support in the home country of two systems. However, due to the current switch 2 trajectory, this number could eventually be overcome at some point.
At this time, it remains to be seen whether switch 2 can repeat the longevity of the original switch and a constant influx of new brackets. The stream of solid release of the game set to 2025 and 2026 will help keep these numbers growing. Nintendo reportedly tried to satisfy Switch 2 demand in Japan, so it is likely that many players would move these characters even further if there were enough units to buy a system. Unfulfilled demand is also likely to help maintain the number of switch 2 switches in the coming months and years.
