Nintendo Switch online Subscribers will soon have two more N64 games, Nintendo has announced Rayman 2: The Great Escape and Trouble with tonic will arrive in service in mid-December. Both upcoming Nintendo Switch Online titles are 3D platformers developed by Ubisoft and will be exclusively available to NSO subscribers with the Expansion Pack upgrade.
From the NES to the GameCube, Nintendo regularly provides its online subscribers with some new games to play through one of its Nintendo Classics apps. Once Rayman and Trouble with tonic With the addition, 42 Nintendo 64 games will be available to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members in North America. This number includes system-sold games such as Super Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Timealong with dark and gritty titles like Abandoned 64 and Perfect darkness. The latter two games are exclusively available through the Nintendo 64 Mature 17+ app in North America, which is available as a separate download from the main Nintendo 64 app in supported regions worldwide.

As for the upcoming titles that Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can play soon, Rayman 2: The Great Escape and Trouble with tonic will be available on the N64 app for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers starting December 17th. Rayman 2: The Great Escape it was first released on the N64 in October 1999 in Europe and made its way to North America in November. Rayman 2 is considered one of the best titles to feature Ubisoft's platformer protagonist. Rayman 2: The Great Escape is the first 3D platformer in the series and has been praised for its gameplay and graphical style. In the game, Rayman is tasked with repelling Admiral Razorbeard's pirate invasion of the Glade of Dreams and rescuing the Globox after it is captured by Razorbeard's crew.
Trouble with tonic originally launched on the N64 in August 1999, two months earlier Rayman 2debut. Trouble with tonic is a 3D platformer that allows players to control a purple alien named Ed who accidentally causes the Earth to mutate after he spits out an unidentified liquid, which subsequently falls out of a trapdoor aboard a spaceship he was cleaning. After a mysterious liquid contaminates the planet's water, the game's main antagonist, Grogh, begins his reign of conquest after drinking some of the contaminated water and gaining superpowers as a result. Like other N64 games available on Switch Online, Switch 2 users can take advantage of features like rewind and CRT filters when playing through Rayman 2 and Trouble with tonic first.
The end of the busy autumn season for Nintendo Classics
Coming soon Rayman 2: The Great Escape and Trouble with tonic will mark the likely end of a busy fall season for Nintendo Switch Online members. On November 25, Nintendo shadow released two NES and two Game Boy titles for players to download, including Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters and Battletoads. During Halloween, Luigi's Mansion was finally released on the Nintendo GameCube app for subscribers to enjoy, and the SNES app saw Mario and Wario, Fatal Fury Specialand Bubsy in: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind released in early October.
However, the Nintendo 64 app is still missing several top-selling titles from its growing repertoire, as games like Super Smash Bros. and Donkey Kong 64 they are still not available at the time of writing. With 2026 just around the corner, it remains to be seen what surprises Nintendo has in store for NSO subscribers in the coming year.
