New Overwatch 2 the comic almost certainly points to Emre Sarioglu finally making his debut as a playable hero soon, but the agent went in a much darker direction than players could have imagined. Sporting a demonic appearance, explosive powers, and a potential connection to one of the deepest conspiracies in the Overwatch 2 lore, there's a good chance Emre could be in the game soon.
Fans finally saw Emre Sarioglu for the first time in years during the unveiling of Frej, the first news Overwatch 2 hero in the year 2025. At the end of Freja's cinematic reveal, Executive Director Talon Maximilien makes a deal with a bounty hunter to find Emre, with whom she was close professionally and personally when they worked on the Overwatch Search and Rescue Team.

Overwatch 2 has big shoes to fill after the successful 2025, and from the sounds of it, the shooter hero's developers are up to the challenge.

Now, Overwatch 2 picked up the story where the film left off – and practically confirmed Emre's eventual arrival as the new hero in the process. “Search & Destroy” is a new Story Time comic narrated by Freya's voice actress, Olivia Le Andersen. He followed Freya as she tracked down a missing agent, all while revealing a massive plot twist: years after leaving Overwatch, Emre joined Talon, though he's since gone insane again.
Freja met with Overwatch 2 Talon agents Moira, Mauga, Widowmaker, and Reaper are following clues as to where Emre might have gone. After gathering this evidence, Freja realized that all of Emre's jobs at Talon were near satellite command centers that monitored global security, except for one in Riyadh that she remembered from her time with Overwatch.
Sure enough, she found Emre attacking said facility once she arrived, but the assassin she encountered was not the man she remembered. With a design described by fallen soldiers as “demonic”, Emre charged at Freja with a hard light pistol never before seen. Overwatch 2 previously his eyes were black and featureless. Reinforcements arrived but were quickly destroyed by a massive burst of incendiary energy from Emre. However, when he emerges from the fire, his eyes return to normal and he recognizes Freya.
Although Andersen voiced all the other characters in the comic, including playable heroes such as Moira, Emre's lines were voiced by an unidentified male actor, further evidence that he could be the new hero.
Who is Emre Sarioglu in Overwatch 2?
Emre first appeared in a cameo from Anna's origin story in 2016, and his name was revealed in a 2018 in-universe lore documentary, but it wasn't until Overwatch: Declassified in 2023 that his name and face were officially associated. Apart from these meager appearances, Emre was shrouded in mystery until Freja Overwatch 2 the revelation brought him back into relevance last year.
This means that his rise to prominence could not have had greater consequences. His diabolical transformation and Talon team are surprising enough on their own, but his shocking personality shift is even more so. However, a red eye appeared with three dots at the top and bottom of his armor's chest Overwatch tradition before. Sombra has been digging into a secret organization using the symbol for years, and recently discovered that the group may have been responsible for the destruction of Overwatch's headquarters. It is possible that Emre and his “kill switch” with dark eyes are also connected to this plot.
Regardless of his striking design, unique abilities, and voice acting, it seems extremely likely that Emre will be one of the new heroes coming to Overwatch 2 this year. With other trailers hinting at Anran's Overwatch 2 Also debuting, fans get a clearer picture of some of the characters they might see soon.
