Like many others Diablo 4 players, the addition of the Paladin class was at the top of my wish list for the game. With a new expansion on the horizon in 2026, I was sure we'd see a Paladin announced Diablo 4 sooner or later, but I couldn't have predicted that the class wouldn't be lost with Season 11 as a pre-order bonus for the Lord of Hatred DLC. While Christmas certainly came early for me and other fans eagerly anticipating the addition of Paladin to the game, there is still one item left on my wish list that would be a Christmas miracle if it came true.
It's hard to complain too much given how good it is Diablo 4 Season 11 has treated me so far. Not only was Paladin a breath of fresh air in a game that had been somewhat stagnant throughout 2025, but thanks to a revamped gear upgrade, the return of Capstone Dungeons, and improved combat with new enemy types. Diablo 4 feel like the experience I wanted to have at launch. However, Diablo 4 is now in a great position to do something it probably couldn't achieve at launch: release on a Nintendo console.
The release of Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred wouldn't be complete without a Nintendo Switch 2 version
While I'm currently playing Diablo 4 on PC via Battle.net, looking for a way to play the game portable. Diablo 4 it already has cross-progression for players who own the game on both PC and console, and is also Steam Deck verified. However, releasing the game on Switch 2 would allow me to play Diablo 4 on my PC, TV and Pocket PC, giving me the ultimate freedom to play the game wherever I want.
Diablo already has a strong history with Nintendo
- Diablo 3: Eternal Collection (Nintendo Switch) — 2018
- Diablo 2: Resurrected — 2021
Diablo 4 coming to Switch 2 isn't as strange as it might seem, as the franchise has been on the rise with Nintendo releases in recent years. Diablo 3: Eternal Collection was released on Switch in 2018, followed by Diablo 2: Resurrected coming to console in 2021. I played both of these versions on my Switch and found the portability and control schemes to be perfect for the franchise. The original Switch may not have been powerful enough to handle it Diablo 4 when the game launched in 2023, but the Switch 2 release earlier this year is the hardware upgrade Nintendo fans need to finally Diablo 4 accessible.
Switch 2 mouse controls are perfect for Diablo 4
As much as I enjoyed using the Joy-Cons switches Diablo 3 and Diablo 2: Resurrectedthe Switch 2's ability to use the Joy-Con as a mouse would do Diablo 4 much more versatile on console. I'd probably use mouse controls when gaming on my TV because it's easier to set up the controller on my living room table. Being able to use the Joy-Cons as traditional controllers while also playing handheld from my bed would basically give me the best of both worlds, so I know I'd definitely double up. Diablo 4 if it came out on Switch 2.
Lord of Hatred would be the perfect opportunity for Switch 2 players to jump on board
With the beginning Diablo 4 Season 11, the game is probably at the best place it's been since launch. This makes it a great time for new players to jump into the game for the first time, especially with the release of Lord of Hatred right around the corner. A Switch 2 release could bring in a whole new group of fans, and those players would have access to pretty much everything. Diablo 4 must offer right from the start.
Ideally, Diablo 4 would be released on Switch 2 at the same time Lord of Hatred launches. Doing so would allow the game to be bundled with the expansion in one package, as Lord of Hatred already includes access to the Vessel of Hatred expansion as well. Giving Nintendo Switch 2 owners this complete bundle at launch would be a great way to entice players to pick up the version, but another Nintendo-themed cosmetic pack like the Ganondorf armor set that was exclusive to the Switch version Diablo 3: Eternal Collection would be the icing on the cake. Christmas is fast approaching and I would love Blizzard to give me one more gift by announcing the Switch 2 Edition Diablo 4.
