Like any other popular strategy franchise, Anna trying to develop its basic pattern with each subsequent entry. From one Anna Stepping into the next one, players can expect to find new gameplay mechanics, reworked visuals, improved user interface and new ideas to breathe new life into the franchise. Anno 117: Pax Romana looks like it will include everything on this list.
The release is set for November 13 Anno 117: Pax Romana starts six years after its predecessor, Year 1800. But while Anno 117: Pax Romana certainly continues this trend of developing the core formula of the series, there is one great tradition that the new entry leaves in the past.
Anno 117: Pax Romana breaks the 27-year tradition of the series
There are seven main lines in total Anna records for the past 27 years. Each took place in a different era, from settings that are primarily based on real-world history, such as Year 1800 and Anno 1404to more fantastical environments such as futuristic worlds Year 2070 and Year 2205. But whatever the setting, everyone Anna the game (in continuous mode) began with the player laying the foundations of his colony on a randomly chosen island, often one that the player has no choice but occasionally one that is part of a certain larger area:
- Anno 1602 – Players start on a ship near a randomly selected island
- Anno 1503 – Players start on a random island
- Anno 1701 – Players start on a random island settled on a queen's name
- Anno 1404 – Players start on a ship near Lord Northburgh's warehouse
- Year 2070 – Players start on a floating base called the Ark
- Year 2205 – Players start in mild areas
- Year 1800 – Players start in the Old World
Some of these Anna titles ultimately offer the opportunity to explore new regions and establish new colonies and trade routes to unlock items that are exclusive to that region. Year 1800for example, it allows players to explore the New World and its jungle regions further into the game and Year 2205 sees players exploring and colonizing arctic regions and eventually the moon. But while players can venture into these regions later in their careers, everyone Anna games, incl 1800 and 2205restrict the player to start at a random location in a certain area.
Year 2205 added option after launch to choose from a number of starting sectors when setting up a new game. Although the map layouts and game bonuses differ between them, they are all located in temperate regions and all have access to the same buildings and technologies.
Anno 117: Pax Romana allows players to choose between two starting provinces
For the first time in franchise history Anno 117: Pax Romana gives players a choice of two different regions when they start the game: Latium or Albion. The two regions present unique challenges and opportunities, such as different skill trees to invest in and different pantheons to worship.
The differences between the provinces of Latium and Albion Anno 117 explained
For those looking for the most direct and traditional Anna experience, Anno 117: Pax Romana's Latium is probably the best choice. The heart of the Roman Empire, Latium is the western region of Italy where Rome still stands today. When choosing Latium as Anno 117In the starting province, players have a single goal: to create a prosperous Roman city. To achieve this, players will have access to the best Roman technology, buildings, and even unique abilities from the Roman Gods themselves, such as reduced unit maintenance costs from Mars, the Roman God of War.
Albion's selection at the start Anno 117: Pax Romana offers an interesting twist on the traditional Anna formula. While the main goal is still to lead Albion to greatness, players will face the constant challenge of balancing two very different societies. On the one hand, players can choose to embrace the Celtic traditions of the natives of Albion, paving the way for unique buildings, technologies, and a different pantheon of gods. Alternatively, they may choose to impose their Roman way of life on the citizens of Albion and transfer the architecture and technology of their homeland of Latium.
This balance of beliefs is the biggest defining difference between the two Anno 117: Pax Romana's Latium and Albion starting provinces and is undoubtedly one of the most interesting gameplay additions of the upcoming entry.
