The player becomes the first person to officially get Platinum in Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus released 13 years ago for the PS Vita, but in all that time no one has officially unlocked the Platinum Trophy in the game – until now. On March 28, 2026, a Japanese player named Tqvry streamed attempting this challenge and successfully completed it. The feat was no easy feat, taking the player a year and eight months to successfully run from start to finish, with the final stream being a 10-hour achievement in itself. According to PSNProfiles, this player is now the first and only person to unlock Platinum in this game, while the PS3 version of the game has seen over 2,000 people unlock Platinum. While that's still not a very high number, there are some good reasons for the difference between the two.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 PlusThe Dynamic Duo Trophy requires players to clear the game in Turbo mode with a co-op partner. Turbo mode itself means gaming Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus at 1.5x the usual speed in an already fast-paced game, but the real problem lies in the co-op partner. Unlike other versions of the game, the PS Vita version does not have online play, so players must complete a challenge with an NPC to back them up. Between the potential framerate drop on weaker PS Vita hardware and the cooperative NPC being sometimes more of a hindrance than a help, it seems like most players gave up on completing the challenge and getting Platinum years ago.
Tqvra's 10-hour stream showed the last mission they had to complete to get the Platinum trophy, which was a boss fight pitting three bosses against the player and their NPC support. Tqvry learned how to best use his partner to his advantage, which pretty much meant turning them into a distraction while the player focused on a single boss. However, it still took ten hours and after that an inadvertent glitch was ultimately responsible for Tqvry gaining the advantage he needed. During the winning attempt, one of the three bosses somehow got stuck in the ground, dramatically reducing the risk for the player, who now only had to deal with two bosses actively fighting them.
Now that Tqvry has established this record, it's possible that a challenger could come along and usurp it at some point. However, Tqvry will remain legendary in the PlayStation Trophy hunting community as he was the first to pull it off and has the evidence to back it up. It remains to be seen if Tqvry will set any more records like this one, though they have a history of dedicated play. According to their PSNProfiles account, the player has also unlocked 100% completion in 208 other games since 2018 when his account was created on the site. For now, though, they deserve a moment to bask in a well-deserved win over Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus.
