Pokemon Clone Pickmon Accused of Ripping Fan Art

In the past day, a new game called Picmon appeared out of nowhere on Steam and is ready to be a Pokemon a clone that also draws inspiration Palworldbut it allegedly rips off fan art for its own pets. Where Pokemon-as games emerge, controversy is bound to follow in some shape or form. In some cases it's similar mechanics and design, but in the worst cases it can be straight up plagiarism. PicmonThe Steam trailer is clearly not holding back Pokemon elements and one could argue that the main character looks a little too similar to Link Breath of the Wildand that the yellow critter is just a reskin of Pikachu, but now a case needs to be made Picmon help Pokemon fan art.

PalworldPal designs have already caused controversy among Pokemon community a few years ago, but it appears that it did Picmon is not afraid to draw inspiration from both Palworld and Pokemon. Some of the critters are very similar to both games, with the mushroom cap creature looking a lot like Breloom and the moss mammoth looking almost identical to Mammorest. New Creature Collector on Steam could be the successor to Dark Horse Palworld

Palworld has become one of the best monster collecting games on Steam, and the next one coming out this year could be a worthy successor.

Pokemon, Palworld Clone Pickmon is already facing art theft charges

A Twitter user named jayjay_mons (@pokejayjay) shared an image of their fan Mega Ceruledge that is extremely similar to one of the creatures featured in Picmontrailer. The design looks eerily similar to the work of jayjay_mons, but some fans say it could be a case of Picmon merged Ceruledge with Palworld's Paladius, creating a centaur-like creature that looks like fan art, by the way. This is just speculation for now, but there is a case for which it is needed Picmon use fan art for your designs with an example that's even more blatant.

This comes from a Twitter post that went viral, originally created by RJ Palmer (@arvalis), who shared screenshots of the artist's work on Instagram that was older than Picmon's reveals and introduces a fan version of Mega Meganium. This design by el.psy.fake was most likely used for one of the pro cover creatures Picmon. Not only is it Picmoncreature almost identical to el.psy.fake's work, but even uses the exact same antenna movement from the fan made by Mega Meganium in Pokemon Legends: ZA. There are slight differences, but not noticeable when looking at the pictures side by side.

Pokemon and Palworld clone Picmon The way it takes renowned designs and even gameplay mechanics and makes them its own is something to talk about. The same game cover as the alleged Mega Meganium art theft also features a creature that looks very similar to Charizard, which is most likely a deliberate nod to Pokemon fans. It could be argued that even the name, Picmonit sounds a little too similar Pokemon. It is unclear at this stage whether more artists will come forward with claims of using stolen work Picmonbut the Mega Meganium situation seems very on the nose.

Unfortunately, whether intentional or accidental, it's fairly common for art-related controversies to arise in video games. For example, MarathonThe art plagiarism scandal damaged the game's reputation even before it was released, but thankfully it was resolved amicably with a settlement that the original artist was happy with and they were also mentioned in the game's credits. In case Picmonthis issue may end up being bigger than the fan art itself, especially if Nintendo decides to sue the company for copyright infringement. That remains to be seen, but for now Picmon he doesn't do very well on social media.
