Although Luvdisc is one of the most underutilized creatures in Pokemon franchise, a fan artist has shared a concept design of what it might look like if it was capable of Mega Evolution. The Pokemon the fan artist then added what role Mega Luvdisc could fill in competitive combat, while the other trainers gave feedback on how it could be stronger than before.
Luvdisc, known as the Rendezvous Pokémon, first appeared in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. The Luvdisc has a heart-shaped body, dark eyes, and is often seen swimming in pairs in tropical waters. Due to this heart-shaped design, the Luvdisc is often interpreted in Pokemon series as a symbol of happiness for couples. A wild Luvdisc has a chance to carry a Heart Scale, which can be traded for a Move Relearner to teach Pokemon some of the moves they normally get when leveling. Aside from being a reliable source of Heart Scales, Luvdisc is far from the strongest Water-type Pokémon aside from its high base speed.

Pokemon Fan Art shows what Mega Luvdisc could look like
Although Luvdisc has seen several fanart designs over the years, one artist decided to give the Rendezvous Pokemon a Mega Evolution upon release. Pokemon Legends: ZA. On Pokemon subreddit, a Reddit user named KikiMongoose created a design concept for the Mega Luvdisc. Along with still being a water Pokemon, Mega Luvdisc was given the Fairy type as a secondary type, similar to other pets like Primarina. Mega Luvdisc also gained a heart-shaped tail with golden fins on the top and bottom. The Mega Luvdisc also had smaller heart-shaped fins on its sides. Mega Luvdisc's color palette consisted of various pink and yellow tones, with pastel pink used on his mouth and side fins. KikiMongoose also drew a concept of what Luvdisc's Mega Stone could look like, with two tones of pink and a shade of gold. Pokemon trainers responded positively to KikiMongoose's interpretation of Mega Luvdisc.
KikiMongoose stated that even though they are inexperienced in the competition Pokemon they said that Mega Luvdisc could be useful as a support team member in Double Battle due to its high speed. as an answer Pokemon trainers have stated that Luvdisc's low base stats could carry over to Mega Luvdisc, so its use is limited if it were a true Mega-Evolved Pokémon. However, different Pokemon trainers have suggested that Mega Luvdisc could benefit from an ability like Giant Strength, which would double his physical attack stat and allow him to use moves like Liquidation and Facade. IN Pokemon Scarlet and VioletLuvdisc can have either Swift Swim or Hydration as its abilities, both of which require rain on the battlefield to activate.
The next Pokemon games could feature a lot of water types
Although Luvdisc cannot currently evolve into other forms, Rendezvous Pokémon could appear in the future Pokemon games. 2026 is Pokemon It's the franchise's 30th anniversary and The Pokemon Company is sparing no effort in promoting the occasion. On December 31, 2025, The Pokemon Company shared a social media post that featured Pikachu rolling around with a Poke Ball. Pokemon then teased that 2026 “will be the best yet” and told fans to mark their calendars for the upcoming Pokemon Day, February 27, 2026.
Since The Pokemon Company hosted a Pokemon Presents broadcast on Pokemon Day, it stands to reason that it will do the same for Pokemon 30th anniversary of the franchise. Plus, some leaks about Pokémon's Gen 10 titles that fans have been calling for The wind(s) of pokemon and Pokemon Wave(s)they said another region could be a tropical archipelago based on Indonesia and Southeast Asia. Since Luvdisc is a water Pokemon found in warm, tropical waters, it remains to be seen if the Rendezvous Pokemon will make an appearance in the next generation of the Pokemon game and if it will see any changes.
