Mimikyu is finally joining Pokemon Goaccording to newly mined information leaked from the game. Although all is not yet revealed, Pokemon Go trainers can expect to find Mimikya as part of the game's free GO Pass.

The players asked Pokemon Go add Mimikyu for a long time. The popular Pokémon has fans all over the world, but is missing from the game despite being introduced in the main series 10 years ago. Tenth anniversary it seems Pokemon Go and the Gen 7 release will finally see one of the last Pokémon of the generation join the game.

Pokemon GO is revealing the debut of Generation 8 Pokemon in the upcoming April event, along with a new shiny launch and monster in limited costumes.

Pokemon Go is gearing up for its next event, A Shockingly Good Time, and while it wasn't previously announced, Mimikyu will finally be added to the game. Pokemon Go has already announced that A Shockingly Good Time will include opportunities to encounter Pokémon such as Pikachu, Magnemite, and Pawmi, among other Electric-type Pokémon. However, a new look at the game's data revealed that Mimikyu will also be in the mix. The data suggests that meeting Mimikyu will be a level 30 and 60 reward in Pokemon GO Pass associated with the event.

While it is not official, it is possible that there may be other opportunities for Mimikya. Players suspect that the announcement of Pikachu as the Pokemon Spotlight Hour for April 1st might be hiding a secret Mimikyu. Since April 1st is April Fool's Day, it would make a lot of sense for Mimikyu, who regularly dresses up as Pikachu, to appear on that day instead of Pikachu. The GO Pass listing for Mimikyu notably refers to it as “Mimikyu (Mimikyu_Disguised)”, possibly indicating that it may initially appear as a standard Pikachu when encountered. However, this is not confirmed at the time of publication.

Mimikyu addition to Pokemon Go will likely be celebrated by many fans as it is one of the last Gen 7 Pokemon to be added to the mobile game. By the end of 2025, the only Pokémon from Gen 7 that hasn't joined Pokemon Go yet they were Magearna, Minior, Mimikyu, Pyukumuku, Silvally, Type: Null, Wishiwashi, and Zeraora. While all these pokemon are still waiting for their turn Pokemon Go debuts, it was also announced that Zeraora will arrive in the game in the future. Players can expect Zeraora to be added Pokemon Go during the upcoming Pokemon GO Fest in Tokyo on May 29. The remaining Gen 7 Pokemon have yet to be announced.

Pokemon Go has a difficult path when it comes to introducing new Pokemon because they have to drip them in at a pace that keeps players happy without running out of Pokemon to add. This makes Gen 7 Pokemon not the oldest missing from the mobile game. Three Gen 4 Pokemon are missing namely Manaphy, Phione and Arceus Pokemon Go to this day. While there are significantly more Gen 8 and 9 Pokemon left to add, some players are frustrated with the wait, considering the generation started 10 years before the game was released. That said, it's not the only leak that Pokemon Go recently seen There is now reportedly a new device in the code called the Explorer Gadget that works similar to the Pokemon GO Plus+ device, without the need for an external physical item. Reportedly, the Explorer Gadget will allow players to automatically spin PokeStops and throw PokéBalls at Pokémon they encounter, even when the game is closed. However, it will reportedly be limited to one use per day, and no release date for the new feature has been announced yet.
