Pokemon Go players will soon have another event to take part in as the upcoming High Zaptitude Global Challenge event will give fans a chance to find a shiny tadbulb for their collections. In addition, Pokemon Go the challenge will see the arrival of Wattrel, a flying-type creature from the Paldea region, along with its evolved form, Kilowattrel.
Wattrel, known as the Storm Petrel Pokémon, first appeared in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Wattrel and its evolved form, Kilowattrel, are dual-type electric and flying creatures known for their high special attack and speed stats. Wattrel and Kilowattrel can often be found near the seas and sands of Paldea. Despite having access to moves like Volt Switch, Hurricane, and Air Slash, Wattrel and Kilowattrel are considered glass cannons, making them far from the strongest Electric Pokemon players can send into battle. While the other critters from the Paldea region have already gotten there Pokemon Gothe upcoming event will mark the debut of Wattrel and Kilowattrel in the hit mobile game.

The High Zaptitude Event introduces Wattrel and Kilowattrel to Pokemon GO this January
After closing Pokemon GoIn the ongoing Pinch Perfect event, trainers will have another challenge as part of the Precious Paths season. The High Zaptitude event will start on Tuesday, January 13th at 10:00 AM local time and end on Sunday, January 18th at 8:00 PM local time. While High Zaptitude is active, Shiny Tadbulb will have an increased chance of hatching from a Pokémon Egg, including those that require a two kilometer walk to hatch. In addition, Global Challenges will be held during High Zaptitude, giving trainers bonus rewards for completing various tasks. At level 1, trainers gain double the experience of catching Pokemon.
Level 2 rewards double the amount of Stardust Pokemon Go trainers can acquire and enable Wattrel and Kilowattrel encounters in the wild and through field research. The High Zaptitude event will give trainers a chance to meet and catch Wattrel for the first time Pokemon Go. After catching a wattrel, 50 watt candies will be needed to evolve it into a kilowattrel. At level 3, the amount of experience points and stardust from hatching Pokemon eggs is also doubled.

Along with the increased chances of Shiny Tadbulb hatching, other Electric Pokemon will have increased chances of appearing in the wild, including Chinchou, Shinx, and Helioptile. Every wild electric pokemon has an increased chance to be shiny. In addition to Tadbulb, hatching a two-kilometer egg has a chance to give players Pichu, Elekid, or Toxel, all of which have a chance to be Shiny. There will also be a $1.99 paid time research that will cut the time it takes to hatch eggs in the incubator in half. Various field research tasks will be available during the High Zaptitude event. Electric calls will run concurrently with January 2026 Pokemon Go Pass event that will allow players to catch Shiny Dialgo and get rewards like Lucky Trinket.
