Rayquaza, known as the Sky High Pokémon, is a box art legendary monster Pokemon Emerald. As the mediator of the Hoenn region's conflict between Groudon and Kyogre, Rayquaza is a dragon and flying Pokemon with a long green body, golden eyes, and powerful attacks that can overwhelm most enemies. Compared to its normally emerald hues, the Shiny variant of Rayquaza has black scales. Throughout November and December, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet released a series of Five-Star Tera Raids against pets like Azumarill and Bellibolt to prepare players for the Shiny Rayquaza Tera Raid.

Although non-Shiny Rayquaza is available in Pokemon Scarlet and ViolaCollectors now have a few weeks to snag the dark scale version of Rayquaza. Shiny Rayquaza's Five Star Tera Raid Battle Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is running now and ends Sunday, January 5th at 6:59 PM ET. Unlike past Tera Raid battles, Shiny Rayquaza's current event has not announced a second trigger at the time of writing, so Pokemon trainers will have just over two weeks to take on the Sky High Pokémon. Alongside the Shiny Rayquaza Tera Raid, the Mass Outbreak event is now live, featuring Cetoddle, Carbink and Axew. Cetoddle can be found all over Paldea, while Carbink and Axew are found in Kitakami and Terrarium. As for the Tera Raid battle against Shiny Rayquaza, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players are only allowed to catch one of them per save, but it can be challenged multiple times to get additional drops.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trigger Shiny Rayquaza's Tera Raid and Mass Outbreak events
- Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Players can now catch Shiny Rayquaza in Five-Star Tera Raid Dens.
- And Mass Outbreak with Cetoddle, Carbink and Axew is now live.
- Both Mass Outbreak and Shiny Rayquaza Tera Raid are available until January 5th.
- Shiny Rayquaza is level 75 and has powerful Dragon type attacks at his disposal.
IN Pokemon Scarlet and VioletShiny Rayquaza has a Dragon type as his Tera type and starts the battle with a powerful Flying Dragon Ascent type move. After that, Rayquaza will often use the moves Dragon Pulse, Hurricane, Extreme Speed and Earthquake. He will also carefully use Draco Meteor and Dragon Dance at set intervals. Rayquaza's Air Lock ability completely suppresses weather effects. However, its reliance on Dragon-type attacks makes Shiny Rayquaza vulnerable to a team of strong Fairy Pokémon such as Sylveon, Tinkaton, and Azumarill.
With a full team of level 100 Fairy Pokemon, trainers should have no problem catching Shiny Rayquaza. While fans wait for more news about the upcoming Pokemon Legends: ZAit remains to be seen what The Pokemon Company has in store in 2025.
