Pokemon Scarlet & Violet's Free Switch 2 upgrade can be the most important update of the next generation of all time

Usually, upgrading older games of the next genes are the least exciting thing about the new console, but the exception is Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The amount of performance problems was troubled by what is otherwise the most transformative entry in the whole series of Pokemon, and held it back from receiving the credit it deserves correctly, as the first main game, a fully open pokemon game. Scarlet and Violet represented a huge leap for Pokémon, but for many people, his graphic and frame problems made it difficult to enjoy.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet gets an update of 60fps but only on switch 2

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet will be able to hit 60fps with Switch 2 upgrade, after its initial switch was a technical disaster.

The aim of updating Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Free Switch 2 is to solve many performance problems that detained games on the original switch, and Boy does it. Over the past few days, there has been a lot of buzzing about new shots that show games running at 60 frames per second on the Switch 2, and after playing this week in the American Pokémon office, the hype is completely guaranteed. More upgrades make this version of Scarlet and Violet more infinitely playable to the point where it would not be unfair to call it an unofficial remaster. This is Scarlet and Violet the way they have always been aimed, and fans will be shocked by how good we feel that we will explore Paldea again for the first time.

A checklist of the necessary updates

Much of what Scarlet and Violet's Switch 2 updates are the things you would expect in any next generation upgrade. The resolution was increased to 1080p in manual mode to use a larger display of the switch 2, while in a dock with an attractive mode you get a crystal clear resolution of 1440p. I had to see the game running in real time at 1440p and 1080p side by side and the 1440p version looked significantly sharper. I didn't have a chance to play hand, but I expect a similarly noticeable improvement.

The distance was also improved. The environment and Pokémon appear much further than before, so the world feels absorbing and more authentic. The shiny hunters will have much easier time that will now throw the terrain out of the air, while those of us, who simply enjoy a nice Vista, will have to look more, simply because we can see further than before.

One of the most significant changes is the density of the wild Pokémon. They are many Pokémon on the screen. Sometimes maybe too much. When exploring the mountain area east of Mesagoza, it was not uncommon in the clearing of 15-20 Pokémon. And while they did nothing but roaming, it was fun to see the packages and herds join. I see a hunt with hunting puppies of all different sizes hanging under a tree next to a group of six gogoats who behave around, and it gave me a feeling for the wilderness I always wanted from Pokémon.

Note: You do not want to catch in the middle of one of these crowds Pokemon unless you try to fight each of them.

I cannot say whether to have denser groups of wild Pokémon increases the speed you find Shinia, but it is reasonable that more pokemon = shiny Pokémon. I will be interested in finding out how many ways this update helps shiny hunters as soon as the fans are able to test.

Truly changing upgrades changing the game

Give all the things I've ever mentioned under “nice to have”. From there we get to upgrades that actually make these versions of Scarlet and Violet completely different games. The first point is of course the frame rate. I cannot overestimate how much to block up to a stable 60 improves the experience. The wildly fluctuating frame frequency in the switch version caused Scarlet and Violet frustrating to play at least. Even if you have not noticed decreases, for many people they have still contributed to the eye respect for headaches. The frame rate is like inputs or audio desync. You won't notice when everything is fine, but if there is a problem, it can completely destroy the experience.

This problem was practically removed from Scarlet and Violet. Although you are still experiencing pop-ins and far (NPC, surface texture and pokemon they still appear directly in front of your face), you do not have to worry about the nervousness, stuttering frame drops that are always the worst when we look most at the screen. It is remarkable how much stable frame frequency makes Scarlet and Violet more pleasant to play and the whole experience closer to what we expect from games in 2025.

The most important upgrade – and perhaps the least exciting – is to improve the loading time on switch 2. We all saw the technical demonstration side on the sides that show how to re -load the fire on the fire in Skyrim 800 ms faster on Xbox One, but I have to tell you the 800 ms really mass. You won't get everything existential, but that's your time and you won't get any of it back. For a second, there is a lot of over 30 hours of playing, even if you don't notice.

In Scarlet and Violet you will notice it. Everything in the original version feels as if it took a second or two longer than it should, which really slows down the pace of the game. When you get into the battle for the raid, you terrastize your Pokémon, perform your move, and waits for your opponent to attack – all those moments that simply do not exist in the Switch 2 version, the load delay is built. It is incredibly anxious, allowing you to spend more time playing and less time waiting.

It is no longer a delay to enter and out of cutscenes. Even fast travel is almost immediate. Combined with a higher frame frequency and a longer distance of draw, games now feel much faster. It is amazing how all these small enhancements add up to create a whole new Pokemon Scarlet & Violet experience, but it cannot be denied – this is the version we wished to play three years ago. You may feel too late, but I say better late than never.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Get a new beginning

Game Freak didn't have to do that. Despite what tired adult fans and chronically online complainants have to say about it, they are the best -selling Pokemon games on the switch and there is no doubt that other main lines will also sell tens of millions of copies. Game Freak could easily ignore criticism and slept healthy on her giant pile of Dragonite Poke Gold, but the way I see it wanted to do this with this update Pokemon fans. It does not mean that Scarlet & Violet has been released in such a state Sub-Par, but it certainly helps.

I have to confess, I did not play this generation when starting. Writing for the gaming site kept me immersed in the discourse that surrounded these games at the start, and I saw enough shots in the modification of our reviews and guides to know that I had no patience to match technical problems. Thanks to the Switch 2 update (and my luck to ensure the SWITCH 2), I will finally play Scarlet & Violet with all DLC, in a version that runs and looks fantastic. The patient player seems to win again. Although I would say that someone who is lucky to get his hands on Switch 2 this month is the winner. Of all the upcoming titles, it is surprisingly the one that I am most excited about.
