Pretty derby's artistic rules of fans are very strict and it's for a good reason

Umamusume: Pretty Derby has been available in Japan since 2021, but the game lacked the English version only a few weeks ago. The translated version of the game has triggered a new wave of popularity for Umamusume, which is currently holding a “tremendously positive” score of the Steam review and on average about 25,000 concurrent players.

For those who do not know about the series, Umamusume looks strange at first glance. The basic prerequisite for this racing simulator powered by Gacha is that the famous Japanese racing horses in real life were reincarnated as anthropomorphic girls. In their new lives they dealt with the race again and are determined to be the fastest horse girl in the Twinkle Cup.

Beauty Umamusume: Pretty Derby stems from how thoroughly Cygames was with his display of these famous horses. The personal features of girls are derived from the personalities and career of horses on which they are founded.

USAMUSUME's use of horses in real life, however, entails various duties for Cygames. The studio is responsible for adherence to the reputation of these horses and as such cannot allow any inappropriate display of Umamusume characters (thanks, automatic).

The existence of Umamusume is entirely dependent on the relationship of Cygames with horse owners and various organizations involved in Japanese horse racing.

In view of this, Cygames included strict but necessary rules on the art of fans in its license agreement on the end user (EULA). Fans are asked to show nothing that could be considered sexual, violent, antisocial and/or nothing politically/religiously motivated.

If the explicit artistic art of fans were to be expanded and the parties involved realized this abuse of their brand, Cygames could continue to use horses. The Japanese community of the game is aware of this possibility and most players followed these instructions to avoid possible consequences for Cygames and Umamusume.

With Umamusume's debut in the West, there is a new community of people who first experience play and characters. We can only hope that this new community also respects Cygames' wishes to avoid the negative consequences of the studio and Umamusume.
