'Probably My Favorite Part of Filming This Season' Fallout's Ella Purnell Talks New Vegas' Iconic Moment in Episode 4

SPOILERS ahead for FALLOUT SEASON 2, EPISODE 4

Three things are certain in Fallout world: death, someone says “war, war never changes” and takes the wrong shortcut through Quarry Junction inside New Vegas. The close fourth would accidentally become addicted to chemicals on the way to New Vegas, and this iconic moment comes to life in Fallout Season 2, Episode 4. It actually comes alive with the funniest possible cast member: Lucy MacLean (played by Ella Purnell).

Game Rant recently spoke with Fallout actor Ella Purnell about Season 2, specifically when Lucy becomes addicted to the chemical. Long story short, the Ghoul and the New California Republic heal Ella Purnell, but it seems their only option in the Mojave Desert is chemistry. This causes Lucy to act like an over-addict, culminating in a fun scene in Freeside where she enjoys killing the kings/ghouls there. As fans know, this is pretty much the opposite of who Lucy is. She struggled to adapt to the brutality of the Wasteland, if not particularly the killing, and yet she took on the remaining kings. “I love that sequence. It's so much fun,” Purnell said during our interview.

Lucy Herce's favorite part of filming Season 2

Purnell praised the entire sequence from the moment Lucy came under the influence Fallout's chems to defeat kings and beyond. “Probably my favorite part of filming this whole season was doing it because, again, it's something you never thought in a million years Lucy would do. I especially love the part where she realizes she's not alone and the Ghoul explains to her what caused her altered state of mind.” In this scene, Lucy tries to justify her continued use of chem “just like a drug addict would.”

Not only is the whole scene hilarious, but it walks a fine line of running Lucy's character with an iconic reality Fallout: New Vegas. “He's really trying to justify it, which I think is perfect. It's such good writing. It's the perfect combination of Lucy genuinely trying to do the right thing, but also tinged with drug talk,” as Purnell said. First reaction to the scene, as well as reviews of the Fallout So far, Season 2 echoes Purnnell's sentiment, and many are weighing in Fallout the show as a whole and everything in season 2 is one of the best game adaptations ever so far.

“Probably my favorite part of filming this whole season was that I did it, because again, it's something you wouldn't think in a million years that Lucy would do.”

With the release of Season 2, Episode 4, we are officially halfway through the new season. Only four episodes Fallout they will remain and it will be interesting to see how viewers continue to respond to the show. Lucy Purnell's favorite moment of filming has been released, but that doesn't mean the final four episodes have any less drama, no less Fallout hilarity, or some minor impact. As actors, it only makes sense to enjoy a scene where your character has a complete mental shift like this.

  • Episode 5: January 14 at 12pm PT/3am ET

  • Episode 6: January 21st at 12pm PT/3am ET

  • Episode 7: January 28 at 12pm PT/3am ET

  • Episode 8: February 4th at 12pm PT/3am ET

Overall, it will be interesting to see how the individual stories intertwine Fallout season 2 climaxes: Maximus' woes Brotherhood of Steel, ghouls, and Lucy haunt Hank and whatever the Mojave Waste decides to throw at these beloved characters.
