Protect/Destroy is a chain of five contracts Marathon which are unlocked upon completion Order/Chaos mission for Portal. The first contract in this series, Protect/Destroy 1, has three objectives that must all be completed in one run. If you get knocked out while trying to make a contract, the progression will reset and you'll have to start all over again.
This mission focuses on localization Biosample Analyzer inside Quarantine areas and sample delivery to a DCON bunker somewhere further Dire Marsh. Since these places are not marked on the map, figuring out where to go can be confusing. The walkthrough below explains how to complete Protect/Destroy 1 and get its rewards Marathon.

How to complete Protect/Destroy 1 in Marathon
Destroying and retrieving the quarantined biosample analyzer
The first objective requires you to find and destroy the Biosample Analyzer western quarantinewhich is located on the far west side of the Dire Marsh map. After uploading to a match, go to Quarantine and avoid unnecessary fights with other runners. Since combat is not required for this contract, we bring a Sponsored set is a good choice as it protects your personal gear if you run out of water.
The quarantine has several entrances. Once inside, you can either eliminate the roaming UESC enemies or sneak around them. The building you are looking for is western structure with laser wires across the door. Ignore the first floor and take the stairs to the upper level. From there, jump over the laser and move further inside the building to find the Biosample Analyzer.
You don't need to waste ammo to destroy it. AND a melee attack breaks the device. Once destroyed, pick up the biospecimen that drops.
Sample delivery to DCON
The next step requires delivery of the biological sample to a DCON bunkerwhich can be confusing since the game doesn't mark them on the map. They exist three DCON bunker locations via Dire Marsh:

South of the complex

North of the greenhouse

Southwest of quarantine
Since the first objective takes place in quarantine, southwest quarantine bunker is the closest and safest option. When you get to the bunker, look for a small container unit outside. This is the DCON terminal. Open it and drag the Biosample from your inventory into the container to complete the contract.
Subsequent mining isn't necessary for the contract to count, although it does get you extra XP, which means more levels, which in turn means more silks earned. Return to Portal claim the following rewards:
