PlayStation 5 players took advantage of the opportunity to pre-order Bethesda's space RPG Star field after his announcement for the platform. Star field is already at the top of the PlayStation Store pre-order charts as the Xbox exclusive finally makes its way to PlayStation 5 for the first time.
Bethesda recently confirmed this Star field coming to PS5 on April 7, 2026, along with the Free Lanes update and The Terran Army extension. The game first launched on PC and Xbox Series X/S in September 2023, so it took two and a half years to reach Sony's consoles. After Microsoft's buyout of Bethesda, the preservation Star field as an Xbox exclusive was the company's main statement, though it was always expected to arrive on the PlayStation 5 at some point.
Starfield is nearing the top of the PS5 pre-order charts
Although the release of the PS5 was only announced a few days ago, Star fieldThe Premium Edition is already third in a row on the PlayStation Store pre-order chart Crimson desert and its Deluxe Edition in the US. Basic version Star field is sixth, behind 007 First Light and LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark KnightDeluxe Edition. Regardless of that Star field hasn't exactly been Bethesda's best-received game (currently holding “Mixed” Steam reviews), PlayStation players are still clearly excited to finally get their hands on the sci-fi RPG after a two-and-a-half-year delay. Exact sales numbers aren't public, but it's reasonable to assume the game is doing well ahead of the April 7th PS5 release based on these early pre-orders.
That's interesting Star fieldThe Premium Edition outsells the base game on the PlayStation 5. The Premium Edition comes with both expansions: A broken universe and upcoming The Terran Army. At $69.99, it's still quite expensive, but PS5 players want to give the full experience a chance to impress, rather than playing a version of the game that doesn't include all the content Bethesda has released so far.
Star fieldComing to PlayStation 5 has always felt like a guarantee, although Bethesda has been silent on the possibility for a long time. Todd Howard recently revealed that Bethesda always wanted to Star field on PS5 and describes it as “a matter of time”. Even though Microsoft bought Bethesda, it's somewhat surprising that the wait for the PS5 version took up to two and a half years.
Although most of the developers at Bethesda are developing now The Elder Scrolls 6It seems the studio still has some plans Star field still. A recent rumor suggests this Star field it may also arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2, though that hasn't been confirmed. While rumors should always be taken with a grain of salt, it's important to note that Bethesda recently released Fallout 4 on Switch 2, p Oblivion Remastered coming later this year. This indicates the growing importance of Nintendo's latest console for Bethesda, which means that Star field port a definite option.
