Ravenholm was a year after the start, says Dev

Summary

  • Half 2 episode 2: Ravenholm was developed Arkane before Valve pulled out the plug.

  • Founder Arkane says it was because Valve lost interest in episodic format.

  • He adds that Ravenholm could run if he had another 6 to 12 months of development.

You don't need me to tell you that the half -life is a series full of missed opportunities and broken dreams. For many people, half-time 3 will always represent what it could be, but there are many other canceled projects that could be pine, such as hostile takeover, extension for the first game and the episode three for Half-Life 2.

For some time, however, we knew that Valve had plans beyond this, with another project, sometimes referred to as an episode of four or simply Ravenholm, also in development. It was made by Arkane Studios, unlike Valve, with a French team that ruled free of charge about how he approached the title. However, Valve canceled the project late into development. In 2022, the nightlip shared for about an hour's game shots from half -time 2: Ravenholm, which shows how far it was in development when Valve pulled out a plug.

HALF-LIFE 3 is a challenge to end other series

If the half -life ends 3, it should be a challenge for further packaging of series.

Now, as Gamesradar+, founder Arkane Raphaël Collantonio, plunged even more light on Ravenholm. This comes from an interview with the quad podcast damage, which gives us another insight into the installment of half -time, which has never been.

“It was great”: Founder Arkane shares more details about half -time 2: Ravenholm

“We needed another year – at least six months,” explains Collantonio, emphasizing how close it was. However, he says that Valve did not want to commit to the project: “It will not work for Valve in terms of the business model they wanted to put together.

“Valve had a very clear business plan for these episodes. You know they tried to make the episode work, and they couldn't be internally because the costs were too high,” he says. He adds that the game was “great, honestly” and believes that anyone in Valve who played it would agree.

Unfortunately, it wasn't supposed to be. At least there is still a playable line -up, as we saw in the video of the nightlip. Collantonio also says that new employees in Arkane will play an unpredictable game as something like an initiation ritual, so they live in some form.
