Reanimal players are disappointed with the length of the game

It seems like every game that comes out these days is either an endless live game designed to dominate every hour of your life, or a 30-40 hour experience that you'll spend the next month traversing. It's rare that you find a fantastic game that you can play in one sitting, but Reanimal is one recent example.

Having reviewed the game myself, I can confirm that Reanimal is a haunting, deliciously gruesome game that you could easily get through in a sitting or two, with the game clocking in at around 6 hours if you take your time. Personally, it was a breath of fresh air for an RPG lover like me, who usually has to play a game for a month before rolling the credits.

However, it seems that not everyone appreciates Reanimal's running environment, as while the game seems to be a hit with almost everyone who plays it, there is a seemingly endless supply of complaints about how short the game is.

Reanimal's short run time is disappointing for some fans

For example, a post on the Reanimal subreddit by a user named Bhavan91 says the game is good but “wouldn't recommend it at full price” and claims they “beat the game twice and my playtime is only 7 hours.” Look at the negative reviews of the game on Steam and you'll see a similar story there as well.

“Maximum 5 hours of game time for $40 is disappointing,” says one reviewer named Rykeaux. “It's a good game, but 40 bucks for 4 hours of play is too much,” reads another review from a reviewer called Sourceless. You also have a few people calling for the game's planned DLC episodes to be free now as well, as an excuse for the short run time.

Personally, I think the complaints about the length of the game are a bit odd, especially those from fans of the other Tarsier titles. According to HowToBeat.com, Little Nightmares has a running time of around 4 and a half hours, while its sequel has a slightly longer running time of 5 and a half hours. Tarsier's games have always been shorter, and Reanimal has roughly the same runtime as his previous games.

More likely, many of the complaints about the game's length will likely stem from its price. All three games are roughly the same length, but Reanimal is Tarsier's most expensive title to date, costing $39.99 or £34.99 if you're British. It's understandable to expect more if the game is more expensive, and it's clear that people expected more from the game's reviews on Steam and the subreddit.
