Resident Evil Requiem Amiibo Prices and Release Date Revealed

Resident Evil Requiem fans will want to prepare for July, as the corresponding Amiibo for the game will launch at that time. While Resident Evil Requiem will be released on Switch 2 at the same time as other consoles, Nintendo console players will have to wait significantly longer to fully unlock everything the game has to offer on that system.

Resident Evil Requiem introduces a new protagonist, Grace, and sees the return of the popular series by Leon S. Kennedy, who searches for answers in the remains of Raccoon City. As with the latest ones Resident Evil game, players will be able to unlock various cosmetics, skins, and bonuses through their gameplay, but at least two of the Switch 2 unlockables won't be available anytime soon.

While western pricing has yet to be revealed, Capcom's Japanese store is currently listing both Amiibo for ¥3,080, which is the equivalent of $19.75 USD at the time of publication. While it's possible that the price could be tweaked for the US market, most standard Amiibo tend to be fairly affordable, so gamers shouldn't be shelling out too much money for them.

Unfortunately, that means a few weapon skins on the Nintendo Switch 2 version Resident Evil Requiem it will remain locked to the player for several months after the game is launched. So far, only one of the skins has been revealed, which is the weapon skin for Leon. Those who don't buy the deluxe edition aren't completely missing out, as there are a couple of costumes, spells, and perhaps most importantly, infinite ammo and infinite dye tapes that can be unlocked by playing the game, completing selected challenges, and using challenge points.

Although Amiibo are intended for gameplay functions, many fans of the survival horror franchise will likely pick up the figures to collect and display, with their impact on gameplay being a lower priority. Some players probably don't mind not being able to use the neon weapon skin at launch, or don't plan to buy an Amiibo at all. However, having to wait five months after launch may frustrate some fans who want to 100% unlock everything in the game.

While the Amiibo news is potentially disappointing, the game itself seems to be a hit. First review Resident Evil Requiem were extremely positive. While Resident Evil 6 once failed in its attempt to appeal to more traditional survival horror fans as well as those who liked action Resident Evil 5it seems that Resident Evil Requiem took the idea of multiple play styles and put it into practice. Capcom and Nintendo were also praised for the game's good performance on the console.
