Everyone loves a good video game mystery, and the recently released Resident Evil Requiem is chock full of them. So much so that an entire subreddit has been dedicated to solving the game's final puzzle, which awards 20,000 completion points, a hefty sum that can be used for infinite ammo and the subsequent quest for platinum.
This means the secret is out – it's Leon Kennedy's phone number, as revealed through a call Grace has in the game.
For those who want to call Mr. Kennedy himself, assuming he's not busy saving the world and everything, the number is 266-555-0173. Go figure, everyone under the sun is calling this fictitious number hoping Leon is on the other end, and if not, at least some great mystery.
Unfortunately, there is nothing to report. We tried to call the number as shown in the cutscene and we were met with the error message “The call could not be completed as a dialer”.
Of course, that didn't stop anyone from being entertained by the prospect of Leon actually answering on the other end. In our case, no one came to our house to kick us, but would we share if they did? I think not.
Resident Evil Requiem's return to Raccoon City is pretty much everything I wanted it to be
Capcom delivers its finest blend of action and horror yet with Resident Evil Requiem.
Given how video game companies have marketed games in the past, including using real phone numbers, there was a non-zero chance that there was a secret on the other side for those with eagle eyes to spot the number. Unfortunately, it was not to be, and our dreams of bowling with Leon were dashed almost immediately.
These numbers actually worked at one point
Thanks to WatchMojo, we have some evidence of at least 10 phone numbers that were previously entered that worked for players to try to call, including the very famous God of War phone number with an angry Kratos on the other end.
We'd be remiss if we didn't mention the Nintendo Power Line, a staffed hotline that gamers could call for advice and help with their Nintendo games. Probably the coolest use of a phone number in history.

Resident Evil Requiem convinced me that a remake of Resident Evil 1 would work if it was first person
Requiem is the closest Capcom has ever come to capturing the paranoia of the original Resident Evil games.
