Resident Evil Requiem is getting a new update, patch notes have been revealed

Resident Evil Requiem has received a small but meaningful update for the Nintendo Switch 2 that attempts to fix certain technical aspects of the game. As the ninth entry of the main series v franchise, Resident Evil Requiem in most respects it stands tall as a logical progression of the series. Perhaps most shockingly, the game came out in pretty solid shape, going so far as to be playable on the humble Steam Deck. But that doesn't mean it doesn't need a bit of a fix.

After its release on February 27 Resident Evil Requiem received high praise virtually across the board, with both critics and fans enjoying its mix of action and horror gameplay. Its solid performance and excellent graphics are also notable, with the game doing so well in terms of sales that Capcom has already been given the green light Resident Evil Requiem DLC for production. There's no word on these apparent expansions at this time, but just knowing they're on the way should keep fans happy for some time to come.

  • Issues that blocked player progress under certain conditions have been fixed
  • Several fixes have also been implemented to improve overall gameplay

functionally, Resident Evil RequiemThe March 9 patch is the same title update that PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC users received on March 6. It probably just took a while for the hotfix to be pushed through Nintendo's publishing channel. Capcom's notes don't go into detail, but the patch fixes a specific progression blocker and brings gameplay improvements. No word on which progression blocker it might be, or what the “gameplay enhancement” is, but fixes are always welcome. Capcom claimed that Resident Evil Requiem would have avoided the technical issues players were witnessing Dragon's Dogma 2 and Monster Hunter Wildsand that has been absolutely true so far.

Resident Evil Requiem is setting records left and right, enjoying the highest Metacritic user review scores and an extremely high number of concurrent players only on Steam. Requiem it also serves as a stellar reminder of what Capcom's in-house RE Engine is capable of when it's not forced to run open-world sandboxes like Monster Hunter Wildswhich in itself is great news.

One of the biggest downsides to the game is probably the fact that it doesn't have a full-fledged New Game+. Instead, a number of unlockables and upgrades carry over to subsequent games, allowing players to do crazy progression-breaking things like upgrade. Resident Evil RequiemBest weapon for Grace early on. This is sort of a half-assed solution that some players aren't happy with, and it's entirely possible that Capcom will decide to iterate on this concept with subsequent fixes and patches.

Despite a strong technical background, Resident Evil Requiem it is bound to receive a lot more fixes and updates in the coming days. Performance on the Switch 2 remains spotty in Leon's open-world sections, for example, and one of the game's biggest blind spots is the fact that it doesn't have any Mercenaries or Raid bonus modes to keep players engaged. Resident Evil Requiem is an excellent game, but it could be even better, so we hope Capcom looks into these areas as well.
