Rock Lee replaces Naruto as Konoha's new strongest Shinobi in the two blue vortexes

Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes has seen the ranking of the strongest shinobi change quite drastically over the years and Konoha has also seen some major upheavals. Naruto Uzumaki, who was once the strongest in the village, is no more, and in his absence, Rock Lee has now risen to become the strongest ninja. Currently in the village, Rock Lee's powers are immense, and even though he has yet to appear in the story, he currently reigns as Konoha's most powerful and useful ninja. Hopefully future arcs Boruto will give him an even bigger role.

The power of the vacuum left behind by the loss of Kurama the Seventh Hokage

Naruto Uzumaki Loss Kurama Power Boruto

Until Naruto reigned as Hokage, it was clear that he was the strongest, with Kurama and the Six Paths of power at his side. Naruto was practically undefeated in battle and one doesn't even need to mention the power of Baryon Mode which surpassed even Ishiki. However, Naruto's loss of Kurama's power ensured a massive shift in the power position in the Hidden Leaf Village. Neither Naruto nor Sasuke were as strong as they once were. What's more, Naruto Uzumaki was then sealed away by Kawaki while Sasuke left the village, only to be turned into a tree by the Code.

In current Konoha, the young generation is certainly strong and both Kawaki and Sarada can be said to be massively powerful ninjas, but they both come with their own weaknesses. Sarada can't use her powers often and Kawaki overheats too quickly in battle while Boruto is a wanderer. This means that the power vacuum left behind by Naruto Uzumaki is filled by none other than Rock Lee, Konoha's strongest taijutsu expert.

Why Lee is the new strongest of the hidden leaf village

rock lee new strongest konoha boruto

Rock Lee is the strongest in Konoha shouldn't come as a surprise to any fan. After all, he is a master Jonin who has gained full control of the eight inner gates technique. With the power of the gates, Lee can compete with even the most dangerous enemies. It should be remembered that even with the Seventh Gate, Guy was able to push Madara onto his back foot, and with the power of the Eighth Gate, he was able to deal fatal damage to the Ten-Tails Jinchuriki, nearly killing him in battle. Lee is now at a similar level of power and therefore currently the strongest in the village.

When it comes to the strongest Taijutsu users in the history of Konoha, Rock Lee is actually at the very top. It is said that Lee even surpassed Might Guy after the events of the Fourth Great Ninja War. Fans have already seen how powerful Guy was in the war, and for Lee to surpass him, especially after mastering all Eight Inner Gates, means he's on an even higher level right now.

Boruto: The Best Anime Fights, Ranked

The Boruto series is laced with exciting battles and thrilling fights. Here's a look at some of the best in anime.

  • All of these things combined mean that Rock Lee is Konoha's new strongest in Naruto Uzumaki's absence. Unfortunately, he won't be appearing in the story anytime soon, and that left fans very disappointed.

Rating the Taijutsu Master's current power level

Taijutsu Master rock lee Power Level boruto

When it comes to Rock Lee's overall power level, it's pretty clear to see that it's an absolute disaster. Due to the power of the Eight Inner Gates, especially the Eight Gates of Death, Lee is virtually unstoppable in battle. Since Guy was able to keep up with Ten-Tails Madara and even overpower him in battle and push him to the brink of death, Lee can do something even bigger because he is stronger.

Rock Lee should be able to take on the likes of Otsutsuki by himself and even overwhelm them in battle should he use the power of the Eight Gates. Even with the Seventh Gate, Lee should be able to destroy the vast majority of Shinju in battle. Which is exactly what makes it even more confusing why he isn't an active part of the story. He is one of Konoha's strongest and should lead from the front, especially with the younger generation putting their lives on the line.

Yet for some reason Rock Lee wasn't written into the story at all. Hopefully future Boruto arcs will fix this major story problem, because otherwise the inconsistencies will be too much for fans to ignore.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 32 will be available to read on Manga Plus on March 18, 2026.
