Skill Caps, LEM Augments & True Max Level

StarRupture has a leveling system (sort of), and players search unlock more LEM expansions they will need to increase their skills in combat, survival and movement. But all that leveling up has to end somewhere, and the level cap can be difficult to identify because the game doesn't alert you to one important detail.

To make things clear, this guide will explain it to you how leveling works in StarRupture, how many skills are available, which unlocks are available with the current version of the game, and more importantly, what Cap's actual level in StarRupture is.

How leveling works in StarRupture

Leveling in StarRupture is done the same way for every character in the game, meaning there is no real difference (in the current version of the game) whether players choose a soldier or a biologist. What really matters is that players level up their combat, survival and movement skills, gaining experience in these three areas and unlocking LEM Augment slots every few levels.

Fight experience is gained by killing Vermin and surviving extensive base raids.
Survival experience is gained by collecting plants, mining meteorites or Ignitia, and surviving Rupture Waves.
Movement experience is gained by moving, exploring, running, climbing, sliding and jumping.

Once players reach the first milestone at level 10, they will be able to equip the LEM Augment with a visit LEM station (unlocked by reaching faction level 4 with Future Health Solutions).

LEM expansion slots are unlocked on levels: 10, 25 (20 in case of combat), 40 (35 in combat), 65, 85and 100. Each skill can be upgraded up to a maximum of 100, but there's a catch: There's an actual Level Cap hidden there, and the only way to find out is to unlock one of the crafting stations in the game.

What is the True Level Cap in StarRupture? (early access)

As mentioned, of the 100 levels that each skill has, only 45 levels are available in the current version of the game. That means that the actual level cap for each skill is 45do it impossible to unlock all LEM Augment slots in the game.

At the time of writing this guide, there are only 3 LEM expansion slots per skill, out of a maximum of 6 per skill that should be available when the developers fully release the game.

This is indicated in a small message that only appears when players use the LEM Station, so it's a bit hard to notice. Some players could get past level 45 in terms of experience, but note that they can't level up, so here's the deal: There's no way to level above that cap at this point.

If players want to fully unlock the potential of their characters, they will have to wait for future patches in the game to unlock more content, and as mentioned, StarRupture is still in Early Access, so some features in the game are understandably still locked. Still, with so much content available and a huge map to explore (in addition to a ton of structures to build), players can sit back and enjoy the ride until the final version of the game comes out.
