Stormcloaks versus the Empire – a debate that rages on the forums on the Internet since Skyrim was released in 2011. If we postponed morale and ethics of both sides for a moment, we can think about the simple question that the party would win if Dragonborn never participated.
Both sides, who knew the tradition of older scrolls, probably won in Dragonbreak, similar to the warp in the west of Daggerfall. But let's ignore the probable multi -universal explanation of the outcome of the civil war and think about who won in a normal universe where deific beings did not interfere with deadly affairs every other day.
War will never change
This question was the subject of the recent Reddit thread from glititring_ad_7709. The vast majority of comments believe that the empire would easily win a conflict if Dragonborn did not deal with.
An easy explanation is that Ulfric Stormcloak would be made if Dragonborn's presence was not attracted to Aldin to Helgen during Skyrim's prologue. This is a simple but effective argument. After all, the rebellion is named after ulfrice. Who should say if it could continue after his death?
Theoretically, however, the martyr Ulfric could turn more neutral Nord against the empire. There are a lot of examples in the real world where the death of the puppet of the semi -poring rebellion has triggered extensive riots, which led to an even greater revolution in response.
If Ulfric survives, his military winner should still be questioned. Ulfric was captured by the empire, absolutely the worst scenario for a revolutionary puppet. This is a potentially accusation of his ability to lead a successful rebellion. General Tullius, on the other hand, is a proven commander who, after a few short months in Skyrim, “turned things around” in favor of the empire.
People say Stormcloaks are more familiar with Skyrim terrain, but most of the forces of the empire in the province are native Nords. This is easily observed when opening the game where Hadvar and Ralof are on the opposite sides of the conflict, even though they are from the village of Riverwood.
The second creative causes a valid point in that another pro-Stormcloak Jarls, namely Lalia Law-Darce and Korir are not the most valuable allies. The real power in Lalii's Hold is Maven Black-Briar, Loyalist of the Empire. Koror's possession was mostly destroyed by a great collapse, neutered his military and economic power. Skald of Dawnstar is Ulfric's only useful ally.
Stormcloaks have several remarkable advantages: most armies of the empire are located on the border between the empire and Aldmeria Dominion and the pale passage between Cyrodiil and Skyrim was blocked by avalanches that cut off the primary land road between the two provinces.
However, without the full support of Skyrim, these benefits are not enough for Stormcloaks to win a lengthy war with the empire. One of the only feasible ways to victory for Stormcloaks is the beliefs or subjugates to Jarl Balgruuf of Whiterun, who controls the “bread” of the Earth. In Skyrim, however, Balgruuf eventually strengthens with the empire for the safety of his people, which means that the possession will have to be accepted by violence.
