PlayStation users should check their mailboxes for updates Ghost of Yotei a deal that Sony began selectively shipping on January 27. While the promotional offer consists of a minor discount, the PS5 exclusivity is unlikely to drop any lower in the near future.
Ghost of Yotei released to stellar reviews on October 2, 2025. Being a big-budget first-party PlayStation title less than four months old, its digital version has yet to receive any globally available PS Store discounts. Be that as it may, Sony is now offering targeted deals to select users.
Rumor: PlayStation State of Play Coming in February
A new rumor points to Sony holding a new State of Play livestream event for PlayStation in February, which will likely reveal new details about 2026 titles.
Ghost of Yotei gets a 10% discount, but not for everyone
The ongoing wave of offers is centered around a 10% discount Ghost of Yoteisent directly to PlayStation users via email, as first reported by deal hunter Wario64 on Twitter. The offer drops the price of the game to $62.99 for the Standard Edition and $71.99 for the Deluxe counterpart. While the full extent of the promotion remains unclear, reports on social media suggest that the deal has so far taken place in the United States, Australia and some EU countries. The first wave of offers was launched no later than January 25, according to online chat.
Predicting the eligibility of a new Ghost of Yotei is a difficult task
Targeted offers of this kind are essentially segmented marketing campaigns: Sony selects a subset of accounts and sends them promotional offers for discounted games, DLC, or subscriptions. Not everyone in the same country or region will necessarily receive the offer, and even those who do may not receive it at the same time. This could be due to a gradual rollout, or Sony expanding the offering only if earlier waves fail to meet conversion targets. In other words, there is no reliable way to predict whether a given user is eligible for the current one Ghost of Yotei support.
What can be said with reasonable certainty is that given Ghost of Yoteithe PS5's exclusivity status – and the fact that Sony can identify which PlayStation Network accounts are linked to which consoles – PS4 users who haven't yet upgraded to the next generation are unlikely to receive the offer. Similarly, users who already own Ghost of Yotei are not eligible as the PlayStation Store does not support the transfer of vouchers to other accounts, so there is no reason for them to receive the offer.
Targeted Ghost of Yotei discounts for PlayStation are valid until February 6th
Most of PlayStation's targeted email campaigns have historically lasted one to two weeks. A reliable indicator of the duration of the campaign is the voucher email, as its expiry date often coincides with the end date of the campaign itself. In this case, the current wave Ghost of Yotei discounts expire on February 6th. The email itself does not contain the voucher, but will direct the recipient directly to the PlayStation Store page with the adjusted reduced price. This is consistent with how Sony's targeted marketing campaigns have worked in the past.
While the physical release Ghost of Yotei was discounted at selected retailers on Black Friday, discounts reached up to 40%, the price of the digital version remains stable so far. That being said, and given the current wave of targeted offers, a discount of more than 10% on the digital release in the next few weeks seems unlikely. The next real opportunity for a wider price cut may come in late March 2026, when Sony is expected to launch its annual spring sale.
