Some unfortunate PS Plus subscribers are getting fewer free games in December

Latest batch free PlayStation Plus games are now available for download for December 2025, but some subscribers have been disappointed that select regions are only getting three titles this month instead of the five that many other places provide. All three levels of PlayStation Plus receive new games to add to their libraries each month, and while it usually only includes three titles, Sony is treating users to two additional bonuses this month. Unfortunately, it seems that there are players who are not treated equally.

Every first Tuesday of the month, PlayStation releases a new set of games for PS Plus Essential, Extra and Premium subscribers. Some months are definitely better than others, but December was definitely one to talk about as PlayStation decided to surprise users with five games instead of three. From today until January 6th, subscribers can add LEGO Horizon Adventures, Killing Floor 3, The Outlast Trials, Synduality Echo of Ada, and Neon white to their libraries. Once redeemed, they will be available in the player's library for the duration of their PlayStation Plus subscription. However, those who don't add the games to their library before the next batch arrives will miss out on that month's games.

Some PlayStation Plus subscribers are missing free games for December 2025

While many PlayStation Plus subscribers are now jumping the queue Killing Floor 3 and Outlast Trials at no extra cost, some users have been disappointed because they don't have the same selection of games. To be specific, it appears that subscribers based in Japan can only access the LEGO Horizon Adventures, Neon whiteand Synduality Echo of Ada. Unfortunately, Sony has not given a specific reason for the discrepancy, but it is likely due to the laws and regulations of the country. Like both Outlast Trials and Killing Floor 3 are particularly gory titles, their exclusion from the Japanese PlayStation Plus lineup may have to do with some sort of censorship regulation. A Reddit user also noticed that other regions are experiencing similar issues, e.g Outlast Trials is banned in Saudi Arabia and Synduality Echo of Ada not available in the Netherlands and Belgium due to online gambling regulations.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time such an event has happened. However, PlayStation has been known to replace games in the past when certain titles were unavailable in certain regions. In January, PS Plus subscribers in Hong Kong discovered they had different games than the rest of the world. While most regions received Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remasteredand The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe, subscribers in Hong Kong had DEEEER Simulator: Your average everyday deer gameinstead The Stanley Parable. Unfortunately, it looks like users in Japan don't have the games replaced this month and are simply forced to miss out on the two extra games for December.

The good news, however, is that anyone who has subscribed to PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium can look forward to another new game on December 8th. A skate story will be added to the service's game catalog on day one. Developed by Sam Eng and published by Devolver Digital, the third-person skateboarding game will see players ollie, kickflip and grind their way through the underworld as a demon gifted with a skateboard by the devil himself. If the player is able to skate to the moon, the devil will free the demon from his lifelong suffering.

ps plus extra last of us part 2 remastered

It's always great when a new game hits PS Plus on day one, but it's not all good news this month, as even more games will be removed from the service in the coming days. On December 16, PS Plus will lose a total of twelve games, including some heavy hitters such as Battlefield 2042, Grand Theft Auto 3 – The Definitive Editionand Sonic Frontiers. PS VR owners will also be disappointed to learn that 3 more VR games are being removed from PS Plus, which is becoming a worrying trend as the service continues to remove VR titles without adding the same amount the following month.
