Sonic Colors Ultimate Cracked Pirates

If you thought the year 2025 would end without pirates cracking another video game, think again. With four days left until the end of the year, Voices38, a major player in the piracy scene, has managed to crack Denuvo's anti-piracy measures in place in Sonic Colors: Ultimate, the 2023 re-release of the original Sonic Colors, which was once a Wii exclusive Sonic the Hedgehog title.

As first shared on Reddit, Sonic Colors: Ultimate becomes the latest game to have its Denuvo removed as pirates continue to make headway on the paid DRM program that many of the biggest gaming titles come with, much to the chagrin of players who believe the anti-tamper technology is hindering the game itself.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is better than Mario Kart World, but that doesn't change anything

Mario Kart is a juggernaut that will remain unchallenged no matter how good its competitors are.

Voices38 specifically noted that a “major milestone” has been reached in understanding important details for future Denuvo, a key point that echoes previous statements that their toolset is “maturing”.

“Wishing you all a DRM-free and old-school Happy New Year,” they wrote on Reddit.

Cracking Sonic Colors: Ultimate follows a flurry of Sega games, including the long-awaited release of Persona 5 Royal, as well as the recent release of Persona 4 Golden, giving pirates just a few more titles to dig into before the end of the year. It should be noted that both Persona titles similarly had Denuvo software.

If 2025 will be remembered for one thing in piracy, it will be the progress made at Denuvo

In addition to the releases of Sonic Colors: Ultimate, Persona 5 Royal, and Persona 4 Golden, several other Denuvo-locked titles have been cracked by pirates, including games long thought to be “uncrackable” or unlikely to bypass Denuvo DRM.

Specifically, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit has been cracked, also by votes38, which marks the next step in the modern removal of Denuvo pirates. Elsewhere, Starlink: Battle for Atlas was similarly cracked, if only to continue testing the toolsets that have come to define what's currently going on.

Perhaps the biggest success was Black Myth: Wukong, which was cracked by researcher Denuvo, and although not made available to the masses due to privacy concerns, the research tools were made available to the public.

All of these events took place mostly in the second half of the year, along with the usual game cracks that don't come with Denuvo, making the arrival of 2026 particularly interesting for those in the piracy community.
