Sony is reportedly running Gran Turismo 7 on the Switch 2

A recent report from insider Jeff Grubb suggests that Sony has received Gran Turismo 7 running on the Switch 2. Grubb mentioned that Sony has a racing game running on the Switch 2 during a discussion about the developer bringing more of its games to PC, in response to a fan question. Grubb was quick to rule out the possibility of an official release during the interview, suggesting that he personally believes that Sony has no intention of bringing Gran Turismo 7 on the Nintendo platform. However, fans speculated that Sony's Switch 2 version Gran Turismo 7 may have a different purpose within the company.

Many fans have hinted in discussions of Jeff Grubb's clip that Sony may be preparing their next rumored console. Earlier leaks suggested that developer PlayStation may have some bold plans for its next-gen console, as it is considering a portable version of the PlayStation 6. The portable version of the console is said to be similar to Nintendo's plan for the Switch and Switch 2, where players can dock the console and play on a TV with enhanced performance.

Gran Turismo 7 has been a huge success for Sony since its original debut in 2022, with the game continuing to maintain its popularity. A recent report from Sony revealed this Gran Turismo 7 even nearly four years after its release, it is still gaining new players in significant numbers. Series producer Kazunori Yamauchi revealed that the racing game still boasts more than 2 million active players as of December 2025. Gran Turismo 7 she posted some of the best overall performances in franchise history. Gran Turismo 7 will celebrate its fourth anniversary in March, with the game continuing to receive content updates, adding new cars, tracks and more.

While Sony has largely stuck to its guns when it comes to console exclusivity, the developer has slowly started porting over some of its most popular games. Sony brought both Marvel's Spider-Man and his Miles Morales spin-off to PC in 2022, while Spider-Man 2 received a PC version just over two years after its launch in January 2025. Several other Sony franchises have similarly made their way to PC after the PS5 exclusivity period, including The last of us, God of Warand Star Blade. While Gran Turismo 7 might not be Sony's next game to go cross-platform, its Switch 2 testing could portend big things for the developer's future.
