A new video released by Square Enix shows a gameplay comparison Final Fantasy 7 Remake on Switch 2 and other platforms. The beloved RPG served as one of the biggest third-party games to be announced to receive a port to Nintendo's latest platform, adding some new features such as a “Streamlined Mode” for more story-focused players. Now Square Enix is showing off the performance of the Switch 2 version.
Switch 2 performance served as one of the biggest questions for many big name ports from other consoles early on. The highly anticipated Switch 2 port Elden Ring reportedly faced serious issues with its early builds, dropping as low as 15 FPS in demos shown at this year's Gamescom. Square Enix has talked about this before Final Fantasy 7 RemakePerformance on the Switch 2 confirming that the game will run at 30 FPS on the Nintendo platform. A new video now presents a visual demonstration of the Switch 2 remake's performance.
A new video uploaded to Square Enix's official YouTube channel compares the performance Final Fantasy 7 Remake on Switch 2 to other platforms. The presentation includes a side-by-side look at the Switch 2 version in TV Mode, PS5, Xbox Series X, and the PC version of the game, featuring the same visual fidelity and detail. Director Naoki Hamaguchi previously revealed that the Switch 2 version features light rendering similar to the PS5 version, with a focus on using lighting to make the game stand out. Switch version 2 Final Fantasy 7 Remake will start on January 22.

The impressive video shows several visual compromises with the overall look Final Fantasy 7 RemakeSwitch 2 version. The only major noticeable difference between the versions comes with some of the floor textures during Cloud's introduction, with the ground looking slightly lower quality on the Switch 2 version. The video also runs at 30 FPS for the demo, which doesn't fully reveal the difference between the Switch 2's 30 FPS and other platforms' 60 FPS performance.
Final Fantasy 7 RemakeThe Switch 2's January debut wasn't the only game in the trilogy confirmed to be coming to Nintendo's platform. Square Enix confirmed this last month Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth it will also launch on Switch 2 sometime during 2026, although an official release date has not been confirmed. It has also been confirmed that the third entry in the in-development trilogy will be released for the Switch 2, with the final Final Fantasy 7 Remake the game is still awaiting an official reveal.
