Will ConcernedApe ever make Stardew Valley 2?
In an interview with IGN, ConcernedApe was asked about the possibility Stardew Valley 2to which the developer responded that he would “like” to work on a direct sequel. Many are probably aware that ConcernedApe and his team of developers are currently splitting their efforts between the upcoming 1.7 update for Stardew Valley and another creator game, Haunted Chocolatier. And yet it would appear to be true Stardew Valley follow-up has already been seriously considered by ConcernedApe, who revealed that “[t]here was a time when [he] started working on a Stardew Valley 2“, but development on that project was halted to focus instead Haunted Chocolatier. He went on to express a desire to “capture some of that original energy” he had when the original Stardew Valley was first developed, and he and his team are still “really excited” about the potential for Stardew Valley 2.
While ConcernedApe isn't quite sure what direction he wants to take Stardew Valley 2shared two main concepts. The first would be the creation of an “entirely new world” with an entirely “new set of characters”, although he fears that many have become so attached to Pelican Town and its iconic inhabitants that some fans may shy away from a sequel that introduces an entirely new setting and cast. This concern created his secondary concept for Stardew Valley 2which would “utilize the existing cast” while setting up a “new adventure in the world”. He reiterated that he would continue to focus on development Haunted Chocolatier but will also “think” Stardew Valley 2.
