Stardew Valley developer ConcernedApe addressed the current state of the game on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 and discussed how bugs will be addressed. As fans of the developer might expect, issues with Stardew Valley they are solved quickly, even though it is a holiday.
Stardew Valley first made its way to players back in 2016, but has undergone significant changes and upgrades since then. While its developers are now largely focused on its next game, Haunted Chocolatier, Stardew Valley it continues to receive updates that not only fix issues and improve quality of life, but also add new content. The game has been on the Nintendo Switch since 2017, but Switch 2 players were pleased to discover that Stardew Valley was made available for Nintendo's new console at Christmas.
Update 1.7 Stardew Valley I hope he doesn't make a mountain out of a molehill
If the next update for Stardew Valley isn't as big as fans hope, then hopefully ConcernedApe will set expectations for it accordingly before launch.
Stardew Valley developer addresses Switch issues
Switch 2 owners were excited to dive into the game, but quickly discovered that there were some issues that prevented them from having as much fun as they had hoped. The biggest of them was online cooperation Stardew Valley it stopped working on both the Switch 2 and the original Nintendo Switch. It didn't take long for the issue to reach ConcernedApe, who reassured fans by taking responsibility and explaining that a fix would be released as soon as possible. Nine hours after confirming the issue on Twitter, he returned to inform fans that a fix had been pushed and that the online play issue should be resolved.
However, these weren't the only problems players had with the game since Christmas. In the same tweet, ConcernedApe acknowledged the other issues and explained that they were investigating them to find the cause and that follow-up patches would be released as needed to fix the remaining issues. While he didn't specifically state which issues were persisting, players were reporting their own persistent issues. One issue is that crafting seems to consume non-recipe items, with one player claiming his Horsewhistle was destroyed while another lost a skeletal hand he recently dug up. Another group of players found that their right controller tries to switch to mouse mode even when connected to the system, making it difficult to play normally.
Stardew Valley has problems with the Switch, but fans are praising the developer
It's not uncommon for gaming communities to be hostile towards developers and publishers when something goes critically wrong with a game, but that's not the case here. As is typical for Stardew Valley community, players have come out of the woodwork to thank ConcernedApe for his work and reassure him that the issues aren't big. One would expect otherwise, considering that breaking co-op and crafting would be a serious problem in a game like this. However, ConcernedApe's years of dedication to updating the game with new content for free and working hard every time there are update or patch issues to get them fixed as soon as possible has earned the respect and trust of the community. The fact that it received a fix for the biggest Christmas issue of all time cemented the community's appreciation even more.
Once these issues are resolved, ConcernedApe is still not done with their first game. The developer has prepared the 1.7 pro update Stardew Valleybut currently has no set release date. If the big updates in the past are any indication, he'll likely be dropping details on content coming to the game in the lead up to its release, so fans may want to stay tuned. While the game is currently in a slightly rough state on the Switch family of consoles, players likely won't have to wait too long for the issues to be fixed.
