2026 will be the tenth anniversary Stardew Valley, a popular farming simulator that is often credited with reviving the genre. Creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone has been hard at work on this Stardew ValleyUpdate 1.7 which will focus on character and social content as well as adding a new farm type.
Barone revealed this in an interview with IGN Stardew Valley players will get two new marriage options in version 1.7. Pelican Town is full of potential spouses, but these are the most likely options to go down the path of romance and marriage.
Sandy: A desert dweller who craves connection
Stardew Valley's Sandy is probably the first name that comes to mind when considering existing marriage options cast. This mysterious beauty runs the Oasis Store in the Calico Desert and cannot be encountered until players repair the bus that allows them to travel there.
Developing a friendship with Sandy leads the saleswoman to reveal that she often feels lonely and longs to visit the city – something she can only do when the player invites her to watch a movie with them. Stardew Valley theater. Her potential romance could revolve around visiting the Valley and discovering she prefers it to the desert. Young, single, beautiful and a fan favorite, Sandy is an easy choice for the Bachelorette.
Clint: Bachelor whose crush doesn't reciprocate
Blacksmith Clint isn't nearly as popular with fans as Sandy, but the sheer fact that he's single and probably close in age to the player increases his chances of being elected. Clint has received some criticism for being a fairly one-note character – he's in love with the vivacious Emily, but his story ends abruptly after he successfully asks her out. A romance/marriage plot could greatly expand Clint's story, allowing him to gain more confidence and get over his crush on Emily.
If he's not one of the two new marriage candidates, ConcernedApe could potentially add another to Clint's short character story in Stardew Valley. It would be nice to see Clint get over Emily, move on and gain confidence and new friends. He's one of the more isolated residents of Pelican Town right now, and it would be nice to see him bond with the others and stop watching Emily go about her days uncomfortably.
Wizard: Mysterious outsider and big fan favorite
M. Rasmodius, a wizard who lives in a tower on the edge of Cindersap Forest, is one of Stardew Valley of the most popular characters despite his relatively minimal presence in the game. Its extensive story is only hinted at, but the advice players receive is fascinating.
What really happened between him and the witch who seems to be his ex-partner? Was Caroline really having an affair with him and is Abigail secretly his daughter rather than Pierre's? Where did he learn magic? Why did he decide to settle in Stardew Valley? How did he befriend the Junimo ghosts? The questions are endless and it would be amazing to see them when the player falls in love with him.

Stardew Valley mods have been made that allow player characters to fall in love and marry a Wizard, and it would be great if that was officially possible. A more detailed wizard story could further explore the magical elements Stardew's a world that Barone's next game seems to focus more on, Haunted Chocolatier. Maybe marrying a wizard could also coincide with the introduction of new magical items to make life easier on the farm, like the teleportation pillars he's already selling?
Other individual residents are less likely, but possible
Clint, Sandy, and the Wizard are the most likely options for players to marry Stardew Valley update 1.7. However, there are several other single villagers who could potentially fall in love with the player.
- Gus, friendly bartender and chef who runs the Stardrop Saloon. A marriage journey for Gus could potentially include adding new cooking recipes to his and the player's repertoire.
- Pamsingle mother of current marriage candidate Penny. Pam is a bit of a loner who is known for her grumpy attitude and love of drinking, and a romance could allow players to get to know her beneath the tough exterior.
- Linusa wild man who lives in a tent. Despite being a loner who prefers nature to human company, Linus is one of the kindest characters in the game, and many players have expressed a desire to have him move into their farmhouse.
- Willy the fisherman probably doesn't want to leave his home on the docks, but maybe he could marry the player and split his time between the farm and his seaside shop.
-
Rancher Marnie and the mayor Lewis have a secret relationship – which the player can discover by searching for Lewis' missing “lucky purple shorts” – but either of them could potentially haunt the player if that relationship ends.
There's also a slim chance that a character who exists in the game but can't befriend will get a significant promotion and become a possible love interest. Possibilities include the Sorceress (the wizard's ex-wife), the mysterious casino owner and quest giver Mr. Qi, the museum curator Gunther, or the Adventurer's Guild members Marlon and Gil.
Finally, ConcernedApe could decide to allow players to split up some of the existing marriages in Pelican Town. Rumors suggest that Robin the Builder was originally conceived as a marriage candidate with a storyline that would involve her and her husband Demetrius breaking up. If ending existing marriages is on the table, the aforementioned Robin and Demetrius, as well as Pierre, Caroline, Jodi, and Kent, could be options for players to marry.
Will one or both of the marriage options be a new character?
It is more than likely that existing characters in Stardew Valley will be made as marriage options. However, there is a chance that ConcernedApe could add two brand new characters instead. New Stardew Valley villager Leo was added as part of the 1.5 major update, so 1.7 might bring some new faces as well. However, given how attached players have become to the residents of Pelican Town over the past ten years Stardew Valley After the release, fans seem more eager to fall in love with an existing villager than someone completely new.
Luckily, fans only have a few weeks to wait to find out who they can gift the mermaid pendant to in the upcoming update. Barone said he would officially reveal two new candidates for the day's marriage Stardew Valley tenth anniversary: February 26, 2026. At this time, he can also share the release date of update 1.7 and other details, such as an early look at the new farm type. As the popular farming game celebrates ten years since its release, one thing is for sure: fans have a lot to look forward to. Stardew Valley in 2026.
