Submit Dev and Nintendo Issue Statements on the Game's Switch Censorship

Developer SendAdHoc Studio and Nintendo have shared a statement regarding the state of the game on Nintendo Switch. In addition to detailing what happened, the developer Send apologized for the situation, saying he was “really sorry” and shared some information about how the team is working with Nintendo to try to resolve the issue.

Send originally launched for PlayStation 5 and PC from October 2025 and immediately received significant praise and recognition. In addition to being nominated for gaming awards, Send it received positive reviews and an impressive 96% recommendation from critics on Opencritic. Nintendo Switch owners were excited to get their hands on the game, but when it launched on January 28, Send it arrived heavily censored with no way to disable it and players weren't thrilled about it.

Dispatch has finally made its way to Nintendo consoles, and new players are sure to wonder how their choices stack up to the wider community.

Submit a developer and Nintendo Speak Up about the game being censored on the Switch

Now, a few days after the game's launch and subsequent backlash, the developers and Nintendo have addressed the issue. Nintendo made an official statement regarding the game's censorship, explaining that all games on its platform must comply with Nintendo's established content and platform policies. However, Send developer AdHoc provided more details, apologizing for the situation and explaining what happened with the game's censorship and release.

AdHoc confirmed that Nintendo requires every game on its platform to be rated and meet its guidelines, and that while AdHoc believed that uncensored adult content would make its way onto Nintendo systems in games such as The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 that meant Send it was clear they were wrong. As a result, the developer ended up releasing it Send in its censored state on the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. However, the team also acknowledges that there was a mistake, as the team wanted a disclaimer in the game's description explaining that the content would be different from that available on other systems. This disclaimer ended up going into a completely different field, meaning some players never saw it before purchasing the game.

Shortly after discovering that this was the case, the developers had the US store pages changed to make the disclaimer more visible, and other regions have since been changed or are in the process of being changed. The team explained that they are “really sorry” and that they understand that people are upset and that they have a right to be upset.

AdHoc tips for potential censoring changes on submission

While some players may feel appeased by the apology and explanation, AdHoc went a step further, explaining that they are trying to work with Nintendo “on the way forward” with Send. The team notes that they can't make any specific promises at this time, but that they intend to update the game to address “at least some” Sendcensored content. However, this may take a few weeks before it actually reaches players. It's not clear from the wording if the update will attempt to remove censorship from some scenes, or if the game will be reworked in some way to censor what's going on without resorting to black boxes to cover up offensive content.

For now, those interested in the game may consider picking up Send on PC or PlayStation and experience the full content without any censorship. At this point, it remains to be seen whether the way AdHoc handles censorship in the Switch and Switch 2 versions puts players at ease, but so far it seems many fans are grateful for the transparency from the developer and the plan to try to fix the issue.
