Call of Duty: Black Ops 7Cursed mode, as expected, proved to be a massive hit with longtime fans. While it doesn't remove all of the modern mechanics that old-school players have criticized, as features like armor are still present, it is reminiscent of older modes by using a traditional point system and other features. Since earning points works differently and the prices of purchases like the Pack-a-Punch have been increased for a change, having a point weapon is once again essential.
Newer Cod Zombie players who only got into Zombies with games like Black Ops Cold War, Black Ops 6and Black Ops 7 they may not be familiar with the concept of a point gun, as scoring in modern games has been all about accuracy and headshots. However, with the old system, the goal is to damage the undead as much as possible without actually killing it. There have been some iconic point guns over the years, whether it was the MP40 on the wall of Kino Der Toten or the Tommy Gun on Mob of the Dead. However, Black Ops 7The best point weapon trumps them all and is so good in Cursed that players should expect a nerf sooner rather than later. The weapon in question is none other than the Akita Shotgun, and Cursed fans should use it while it's still on top of the mountain.
Why is Black Ops 7's Akita Shotgun so good in Cursed?
Black Ops 7The Akita Shotgun shines with its unique feature: its fully automatic nature. Unlike the pump action M10 Breacher or the two-round burst Echo 12, players can hold down the trigger on the Akita and blow through all of her ammo, pumping led to a horde of undead. It doesn't do the most damage in the world, although it's fun to shoot, so it's relatively useless in regular Zombies. However, one mode's trash is another mode's treasure, making it the perfect secondary in early and mid-round Cursed matchups. Each Akita bullet counts as a separate bullet and each bullet that hits a zombie gives 10 points in Cursed, it doesn't take long for the points to really pile up.
As players pump their shotguns into a group of enemies, all bullets will hit the target and even penetrate others, meaning it won't take long for players to rack up tens of thousands of points. In a few rounds of spraying enemies with Akita shots before finishing them off with a wonder weapon like the Necrofluid Gauntlet or a powerful bullet gun like the M34 Novaline, players will have enough points to fully upgrade their weapons and get all the perks they still need. While players are hoping Akita won't be nerfed since it serves this special purpose in Cursed, it's desirable if it wasn't otherwise, the fact that it's so much better than any other weapon at scoring points gives good reason to be nervous about the next balance.
Since players in Cursed cannot spawn with their weapon of choice, as they always only start with a pistol, they will usually have to hit a Mystery Box and hope for the best. However, the Akita is a wall weapon that can be found in Ashwood, making it something Cursed players can pick up in every game of Ashes of the Damned.
Black Ops 7 Season 1 will be the turning point for Akita Shotgun in Cursed
Either way, the initial season of post-launch content Black Ops 7 will determine whether the Akita becomes even more overpowering or experiences a fall from grace. If it's nerfed so that each shot no longer gives points, then the weapon goes from being meta in Cursed to being largely ignored. However, if Treyarch leaves it alone, then it will be even more viable with major Season 1 additions. First up is Mule Kick, which debuts as part of the new ring map Astra Malorum. As always, this perk will allow players to hold three weapons at once, meaning they can have a powerful ball weapon, a wonder weapon, and a point weapon in Akita, all at once.
Another addition that will benefit Akita users is one of the new attachments coming in Season 1 that will be unlocked through weekly challenges. In the launch window for the first season, players will be able to obtain the Akita Scorchlink Akimbo attachment. This means that if Akita somehow survives the Cursed nerf, players will be able to dual wield the best spike weapon of all Zombies. This attachment, when combined with the Dragon's Breath attachment to make it more effective against the Zursy miniboss, should allow Akita to be an even more viable weapon than it already is. Players could shoot slowly when trying to build points, or shoot quickly in an emergency or to kill a bear, making the weapon fun and effective to use.
While Cod Zombie charges are not present in Curse mode, players can use them to set weapon builds for weapons. These builds ensure that when players buy a weapon from the wall or pull it from a Mystery Box, they will be equipped with their choice of accessories and camo.
The Season 1 release date will be the moment of truth for Akita fans and there is a case to be made for and against his nerf. Sure, the other point weapons are irrelevant, and being a wall weapon means players can reliably get it in every cursed matchup, but the particularly useful (and weak) weapons help give the weapon lineup a distinct identity. Players will soon know if Treyarch intended for the Akita to shine in Cursed or if it was an oversight, as a leveling pass in Season 1 will either leave the weapon alone or tear it apart. However, currently Akita is an overpowered scoring strategy in Cursed that everyone should enjoy while they still can.
