Tencent has seemingly removed its upcoming open-world survival game Light Motiram from Steam and from the Epic Games Store. This removal from storefronts coincides with the sudden settlement of a legal battle between Tencent and Sony, with the other side claiming in July that Light Motiram was Guerrilla Games' “slave clone” Horizon series.
Announced in November 2024, Light Motiram was in development at Aurora Game Studio, a French developer working under Polaris Quest, itself a subsidiary of Tencent Games. Along with a 16-minute gameplay trailer showing her survival in the open world, Light Motiram debuted with an official description that mentioned “a world overrun with colossal machines” and “unique Mechanimals”. Light MotiramThe announcement was immediately met with criticism Horizon fans, with many claiming that it is almost a carbon copy of Sony's first-party franchise in terms of premise and key visual designs, specifically its main protagonist and machine enemies.
Sony seemed to agree with the general sentiment around Light Motiramas in July of this year it officially filed a lawsuit against Tencent for copyright and trademark infringement. Sony said that Tencent proposed a Horizon mobile game in March 2024, and that despite rejecting the offer, Tencent continued to work on the project with Horizon's property illegally as a basis. The legal battle between the two sides has gradually escalated over the past five months, and Tencent agreed in early December to suspend public tests and promotions Light Motiram before a possible court hearing in early 2026.

Tencent removes Motiram light from storefronts after Sony lawsuit
But just two weeks later, the legal battle between Tencent and Sony appears to have come to an abrupt end. On December 18, a new court filing surfaced (first reported by The Game Post) confirming that the lawsuit had been dropped following a “confidential settlement by all parties.” Due to the confidential nature of the settlement, it is not known if any money was exchanged. The case was also “dismissed with prejudice,” meaning neither party can return to it at a later date.
Right before this court filing surfaced, Reddit users took notice Light Motiram was seemingly removed from Steam and the Epic Games Store, with links to the first link redirecting players back to the Steam homepage and links to the second leading to a 404 page. There has been no official statement from Tencent or Aurora Game Studio regarding this court filing or Light Motiram's status, although the removal of the game from digital stores seems to indicate that the game may have been canceled or at least is due for major changes.
at the time of writing Light MotiramThe site's official website is still live, as are most of the links on the main page. Light MotiramThe X account and YouTube channel are still active, although the former has not posted since April 28 and only one video (dated January 2025) has been uploaded to YouTube. Light Motiram's Discord is also still connectable, and its general chat is currently flooded with messages from fans asking if the game is cancelled.
While Light Motiram could reappear in the future with a completely different look, it seems a bit unlikely given how much Aurora Game Studio would need to change. That's what Sony's original lawsuit claimed Light Motiram didn't just break HorizonThe art style also copied key elements from the series' soundtrack, color palette, and HUD. To avoid possible legal action in the future, Light Motiram it will have to change large parts of its basic design, which would likely require considerable time and money.
