The 5 Strongest Ancient Saiyans, Ranked

Saiyans have one of the most interesting histories and stories Dragon Ball. A barbaric race of the strongest warriors in the universe, the Saiyans of Universe 7 were subjugated by King Cold and joined his army as mercenaries dedicated to exterminating entire species and selling their planets for profit. Under Frieza, the Saiyans saw so much success that Frieza became afraid of their potential and the Super Saiyan legend, prompting him to destroy Planet Vegeta.

Dragon Ball: 7 Transformations Stronger Than Golden Frieza

Frieza's golden form made him relevant again, but these transformations quickly overtook him.

While the Saiyans were in Dragon Ball Z they were introduced as evil warriors who sealed their own fate by teaming up with Frieza, the life of the old Saiyans was different. Little is known about the ancient Saiyans, and what there is is from non-canon Dragon Ball spin-off. That is, the few ancient Saiyans Dragon Ball introduced are shockingly powerful, with base power levels far beyond what Goku & Vegeta were capable of DBZ.

Squash won the Ancient Saiyan Tournament

Dragon Ball Fusions Squash

An unlockable character in the underrated 3DS JRPG Dragon Ball FusionsSkwash was an Ancient Saiyan who once competed in a tournament against other Ancient Saiyans and ended up winning and being crowned the champion. Skwash still wears his championship belt (much like Earth's Mr. Satan) and is even able to turn Super Saiyan after grinding on Lv. 99.

Skwash has no love for modern Saiyans and is especially ashamed of Vegeta for actually working with Vegeta and allowing their race to be dominated and ultimately destroyed. In terms of power level, Skwash is stronger than Frieza during the Namek Saga, but can't compare to Super Perfect Cell from the Cell Games.

Yamoshi was the first Super Saiyan

Dragon Ball: Yamoshi – The Super Saiyan of Legend
Dragon Ball: Yamoshi – The Super Saiyan of Legend

Introduced in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of GodsYamoshi is the original legendary Super Saiyan. Yamoshi first turned Super Saiyan when he rebelled against the evil Saiyans of his era, and is even implied to be the original Super Saiyan God, unlocking God Ki through a god ritual with five other pure-hearted Super Saiyans.

There is an idea in the fandom that Yamoshi is extremely powerful, but all evidence points to the opposite. While unlocking Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan God is no small feat, Yamoshi was not strong enough to contain either form and was eventually killed in a group effort by the evil Saiyans he was so desperate to defeat. That said, he is definitely strong in his own right and was the strongest Ancient Saiyan of his time.

Super Saiyan Bardock, Bardock and Super Saiyan 4 Bardock

Dragon Ball: Bardock's 6 Strongest Transformations, Ranked

Dragon Ball Super and the series' non-canon spin-offs and video games have had a lot of fun making Bardock stronger through various transformations.

Shallot is a descendant of Yamoshi and has the power to prove it

Super Saiyan Shallot

Shallot is the main character of the mobile game Dragon Ball Legendsand a direct descendant of Yamoshi. Over the course of the game (and due to time travel shenanigans), Shallot trains under several different Saiyans and unlocks several Super Saiyan forms. Shallot currently has access to Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan 2, Super Saiyan 3, Super Saiyan God, and Super Saiyan Blue.

After training with Goku, Super Saiyan Blue Shallot becomes strong enough to fight and defeat Bergamo, the strongest member of the Trio de Dangers in Dragon Ball Super. SSB Shallot is also powerful enough to fight the version Dragon Ball Super's Broly, who has been enhanced with Dark Ki. In terms of power level, Shallot is on par with Golden Frieza in the Tournament of Power.

2

Giblet is Shallot's stronger twin

Super Saiyan God Giblet

A Saiyan in Red, Giblet is Shallot's twin Dragon Ball Legends. Although he has yet to unlock Super Saiyan Blue, Giblet is often shown to be a step ahead of Shallot and is generally stronger than his brother. After Shallot unlocks Super Saiyan God through the God Ritual, Giblet shows Shallot that he has already unlocked the form himself (probably by brute force, just like Vegeta).

Giblet also has access to the unique Super Saiyan God form (Dark Ki: Unleashed), which puts him roughly on par with Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken x20 Goku. SSG(DK:U) Giblet is so powerful that he is even able to defeat the Son of Shenron, one of the strongest villains in Dragon Ball GT and a figure far stronger than anyone Shallot had ever defeated. Even with Super Saiyan Blue, Shallot may not defeat Super Saiyan God (Dark Ki: Unleashed) Giblet.

8 Dragon Ball Characters Who Wasted All Their Potential, Ranked

Unless your name is Goku or Vegeta, chances are you'll never live up to your potential—especially if you're one of those unfortunate Dragon Ball characters.

1

Cumber is one of the strongest Saiyans in all of Dragon Ball

A non-canon character from Super Dragon Ball HeroesCumber is by far the strongest Ancient Saiyan in the series and may honestly be the most powerful Saiyan in terms of base power levels. Even in his base form, Cumber was stronger than Jiren during the Tournament of Power and is believed to be strong enough to fend off Beerus. Base Cumber is also clearly stronger than Super Saiyan God Goku.

In his Super Saiyan form, Cumber surpasses Super Saiyan 4 Goku and Vegeta at the same time, forcing them to use Potara and fuse into Vegeta. While Cumber was eventually defeated by Super Saiyan 4 Vegito, he put up a serious fight and came very close to defeating the fusion at many different points. In terms of potential, Cumber could very well become the strongest character in the Dragon Ball.
