Vegeta has always been one of the strongest characters Dragon Ball history. In the Saiyan Saga, Vegeta was so powerful that Goku needed help from Gohan, Krillin, and Yajirobe to survive – even then, no one was able to kill Vegeta. In the Frieza Saga, Vegeta spends most of the arc acquiring Zenkai boosts that help him keep up with Goku until the final battle with Frieza. From Dragon Ball SuperVegeta is not only stronger than Goku, he is the second strongest hero in the series after Gohan.
Dragon Ball Z's 10 Most Powerful Transformations, Ranked
Anime transformations as we know them wouldn't exist without Dragon Ball Z, and those are absolutely the strongest forms in DBZ.
Vegeta doesn't have as many transformations as Goku, but that's simply because he doesn't need them. Between the regular Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan Blue, and Ultra Ego, Vegeta knows how to get the most out of his forms and enhance them in ways his fellow Saiyans would never think of. He sports a higher base level of performance than Goku, and his transformations often help him catch up to, if not surpass, his opponent in record time.

Super Saiyan Vegeta was briefly stronger than Super Saiyan Goku in the Cell Saga
When Super Saiyan Vegeta first debuts Dragon Ball FROMin fact, he is stronger than Super Saiyan Goku. During the three-year gap between the Frieza and Cell Sagas, Vegeta trains harder than Goku and eventually unlocks a slightly stronger version of the Super Saiyan. Where Goku was unable to defeat Android 19 before his Heart Virus appeared, Super Saiyan Vegeta effortlessly destroys 19 and was able to kill Dr. Gero.
Android 18 quickly puts Vegeta in his place, but thanks to a year of training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber with Future Trunks, Vegeta upgrades his Super Saiyan version to Super Saiyan Grade 2: a form variant with a significantly higher power level at the expense of slightly lower stamina. Vegeta Super Vegeta, Super Saiyan Grade 2 Vegeta was so powerful that he could easily kill Semi-Perfect Cell with no problem. Unfortunately, Vegeta's pride gets in the way and he lets Cell absorb Android 18 to become perfect.

Super Saiyan 2 Vegeta was able to make Beerus bleed
Vegeta didn't unlock Super Saiyan 2 until Babidi possessed him in the Majin Buu Saga and turned him into a Majin. This was enough to put Super Saiyan 2 Majin Vegeta on par with Super Saiyan 2 Goku, making them both slightly stronger than Super Saiyan 2 Gohan at the time. Vegeta doesn't get stronger over the course of the Buu arc, but he stays strong enough to technically cash in Dragon Ball ZThe final battle against Kid Buu.
The Official Dragon Ball 10 Most Powerful Super Forms, Ranked
Dragon Ball Super's power scaling means the series' forms are leagues stronger than anything seen in Dragon Ball Z, and they keep getting stronger.
While Goku recharges his Spirit Bomb, Vegeta bids Kid Buu even though he has no chance of winning. Super Saiyan 2 Vegeta is clearly superior in every way, but he puts on an incredible fight and tanks one after the other as he holds Kid Buu's attention from Goku. SSJ2 Vegeta could never win, but the fact that he is able to survive at all is incredibly impressive in itself. IN Dragon Ball Z: Battle of GodsSuper Saiyan 2 rage makes Vegeta so powerful that even Master Roshi acknowledges that Vegeta has surpassed Super Saiyan 3 Goku.

Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta is stronger than Super Saiyan 3 Goku
Super Saiyan 3 was Goku's strongest form Dragon Ball Zbut also his worst. Because Goku unlocked Super Saiyan 3 in the afterlife, he never experienced any of the negative side effects of the transformation: most notably, SSJ3's intense Ki drain. During the final battle with Kid Buu, Goku's body simply cannot keep up with the raw power of Super Saiyan 3 and depletes Ki faster than it can recharge, leaving him in his base form for the rest of the final battle.
IN Dragon Ball DAIMAVegeta reveals that he unlocked Super Saiyan 3 through secret training. That in itself is a huge accomplishment since Goku needed a dead body to get into form and Gotenks could only flip SSJ3 because it's a fusion. Even more impressive is the fact that Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta seemingly suffers no Ki drain. Both Mini Vegeta and Adult Vegeta can use Super Saiyan 3 in longer bursts than Goku, despite having significantly less time to master SSJ3 compared to Goku.

Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta brought the prince of all Saiyans to the level of Goku with zero training
With the exception of Baba's obsession, Vegeta spends everything Dragon Ball GT behind Goku. It's not until the end of the Shadow Dragon saga that Vegeta finally levels the playing field. With Bulma's help, Vegeta is injected with enough Blutz waves to unlock Super Saiyan 4. While Vegeta would normally be against unlocking a new form through anything other than his own hard work, the fact that Vegeta allows Bulma to help him turn SSJ4 speaks to his character development.
Vegeta v Dragon Ball GT is the most humble version of the character. He is a true hero who has overcome his ego and is willing to risk his pride if it means helping Goku and saving the world. Vegeta is even the one who suggested the connection with Gogeta during the final battle with Omega Shenron. Remarkably, for Vegeta to be as strong as he is, Blutz Waves increase his Power Level to be on par with Super Saiyan 4 Goku with almost zero training.

Super Saiyan God Vegeta unlocked the form all by himself – unlike Goku
Super Saiyan God is the only transformation Goku didn't unlock through hard work or an emotional breakthrough. IN Dragon Ball Z: Battle of GodsGoku expresses his disappointment to Beerus that he had to rely on God's ritual to transform into a Super Saiyan God. This makes it even more impressive when Vegeta unlocks Super Saiyan God all by himself. It was never revealed when or how Vegeta first transformed SSG, but it is clear that he did not use the God Ritual.
7 Dragon Ball Super Characters Stronger Than Ultra Ego Vegeta
Ultra Ego Vegeta may be stronger than Ultra Instinct Goku (for now), but he's hardly the strongest character in Dragon Ball Super.
In the manga, Vegeta uses Super Saiyan God the same way Goku used Kaioken against Frieza, conserving as much God Ki as possible during his fight with Goku Black. IN Dragon Ball Super: BrolyVegeta makes his debut in the Super Saiyan God anime and comes extremely close to killing Broly before Goku gets his turn to fight the legendary Super Saiyan.
2
Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta is objectively better than Super Saiyan Blue Goku
When it comes down to it, Vegeta is the strongest Super Saiyan Blue v Dragon Ball Super. In the Goku Black Saga, Vegeta has trained his Super Saiyan Blue version to the point where his Power Level is on par with Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken Goku – a huge feat considering Goku literally stacks a multiplier on top of his Super Saiyan Blue. In the Tournament of Power, Vegeta's Super Saiyan Blue mutates into Super Saiyan Blue Evolution, a super-powered version of the form that is about as powerful as the Ultra Instinct Sign, a literal angelic technique.
IN Dragon Ball Super Chapter 103, Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta is so powerful that he is able to fight Gohan Beast. This is especially notable because Gohan Beast was able to knock Goku out of Ultra Instinct during their fight, but Vegeta was strong enough to rely solely on SSB during the Saiyan battle royale. In terms of power and performance, Super Saiyan Blue Goku has absolutely nothing on Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta.

Ultra Ego Vegeta can beat Ultra Instinct Goku – for now
At the end Dragon Ball Super: Super HeroVegeta finally achieved one of his lifelong dreams: to defeat Goku in a fair fight. In the Saiyan Saga, Vegeta was defeated by the combined efforts of Gohan, Krillin, and Yajirobe, leaving him unable to complete his one-on-one duel with Goku (he also had to transform into an ape, which equaled a loss for Vegeta). In the Majin Buu Saga, Vegeta takes out Super Saiyan 2 Goku with a cheap shot, then hurts his pride when he learns that Goku could have turned Super Saiyan 3 at any time and ended the fight.
IN Super heroVegeta defeats Goku with his own strength and skills. To be fair, it was a fight in their base form without the transformations, but since Vegeta's base power level is higher than Goku's, it makes sense. Ultra Ego Vegeta is stronger than Ultra Instinct Goku. Goku will continue to perfect Ultra Instinct and eventually surpass Vegeta, but for now, Ultra Ego Vegeta is the strongest form. Ultra Ego gets stronger the longer its user fights and the more damage it takes. While Ultra Ego Vegeta currently has no wins to his credit, he already has an edge over Goku in terms of raw power level. The only transformations currently stronger than Ultra Ego Vegeta are Gohan Beast and Black Frieza.
