After the debut of the Kanto region, Generation II introduced the Johto region Pokemon fans. A sprawling area known for its association with the many Legendary Pokémon found here, the three Generation II games were also the first to feature a Legendary Pokémon as a mascot for each title. One legendary Pokemon mascot, Ho-Oh, is Fire-type, but it's certainly not the only powerful Fire-type in the region. There are countless other species, from the Mountain Slugma to the rare Hound.
In the anime, Ash's adventures in the Johto region are some of his most popular. There, he meets and befriends several Fire-type Pokémon, such as the starter Pokémon Cyndaquil. However, there are several other Fire-type Pokémon in the Johto area that Ash will encounter but not capture. From the determined Magby to the compassionate Houndoom, these Pokémon also act as examples of the awesome Fire-type Pokémon found in Johto.

Generation II first introduced the concept of Pokemon breeding, allowing players to obtain Pokemon Eggs. Along with this mechanic, special non-evolved Pokémon known as baby Pokémon also debuted. These Pokémon cannot breed and were initially only obtainable if the player was able to obtain a small Pokémon as an egg. For the most part, baby Pokemon only evolve with a high friendship and can sometimes learn rare moves after birth.
One such small Pokémon is Magby, the previous form of the powerful Fire-type Magmar. Trainer Satchel has the very powerful Magby as his Pokémon partner, and although Ash praised the Live Coal Pokémon, Satchel's wish was to evolve Magby into Magmara. When Team Rocket captured Magby and several others, he worked with Ash's Cyndaquil to create an escape. Later, Magby evolved into Magmar and successfully sent Team Rocket to blast away again.
Magcargo is an evolved form of Slugma

Slugma was introduced in Generation II, but could only be found in Kanto in games of that era. However, as seen in the anime, Slugma was found in the Johto region. Upon reaching level 38, Slugma will evolve into Magcargo, becoming a Fire/Rock type Pokemon. Although very weak to Water-type moves, the Lava Pokémon has a fragile shell that will quickly create flame bursts, increasing the opponent's chance of getting burned.
A particularly ferocious Magcargo appears in the episode “Some Like it Hot” and is a creature that Pokémon trainer Egan hopes to catch. A Fire-type specialist, Egan tried again and again to catch the Lava Pokemon with his Flareon, but to no avail. Luckily, Misty gives Egan some fighting advice that turns out to be very helpful. Not long after finally catching Magcargo, the Lava Pokémon uses its power to help its new trainer when Team Rocket tries to stir up trouble.
Houndoom is a wild Dark/Fire type Pokemon

In Generation II, Steel-type and Dark-type were introduced for the very first time. The second type is known to include Pokémon that love to fight and can be quite cunning, such as Incineroar and Mawile. However, it is unwise to assume that Pokemon of this type are evil creatures. After all, while the fast Dark/Fire-type Houndoom is known for having particularly dangerous Fire-type abilities, this Pokémon can also be very noble and is even capable of Mega Evolving.
In addition to Harrison's loyal Houndoom, “Houndoom's Special Delivery” featured a good-natured Dark Pokémon acting as a courier. While delivering items to clients for his trainer Old Man Gon, Houndoom (nicknamed “Doomy” in the English dub) comes across Misty's lost Togepi. Throughout the episode, Doomy not only takes care of Togepi, but uses his power to protect him from other Pokémon. This Houndoom was also nearly captured by Team Rocket, but was able to send the group away with a powerful flamethrower.

Both Ash and Dawn own these Fire-type Pokémon
Ash has a penchant for becoming friends with all kinds of starter Pokémon, even those that once belonged to other trainers or those that live in the wild. The second example found in the Johto region is Ash's Cyndaquil, which he encountered in a forest inhabited by the species. Often considered the baby of the list, Cyndaquil tended to tire easily. However, he was also very fast and capable of powerful flamethrower attacks that became stronger after evolving into Quilav.
After evolving, Ash's Quilava matured and even learned the intense Eruption attack, proving to be a useful ally during the Lily of the Valley conference. Meanwhile, Ash's friend Dawn obtains a Pokémon egg that hatches into a baby Cyndaquil. Although shy at first, Cyndaquil formed a strong bond with Dawn as it hatched from its Egg right in front of her. After evolving into Quilava, the Fire-type became very powerful and helped Dawn a lot with her Pokemon Contest battles.

In a TV movie The Legend of Thunder!Ethan's animated series counterpart, Jimmy, is introduced. Like his video game counterpart, Jimmy is an energetic trainer from New Bark Town and was given his starter Pokémon, Cyndaquil, by Professor Elmo. Alongside his friends, trainer/coordinator Marina and trainer Vincent, Jimmy embarks on a journey. According to time The Legend of Thunder! Jimmy has at least six Pokemon on his roster, including his now fully evolved Typhlosion.
During a battle with Marina's partner Pokémon, Feraligatr Wani-Wani, Jimmy's Typhlosion is shown barely reacting to an opponent's Water Gun attack, showing off its great power. Like Ash and Pikachu, Jimmy and Typhlosion are best friends and extremely loyal to each other. When Team Rocket puts the legendary Pokemon Raikou in great danger, Typhlosion is part of the team to help save the electric-type Pokemon. Both the Fire-type and Jimmy finally bid farewell to Raika, happy to see her safe.
Ho-Oh is one of the main legendary Pokemon of Johto
A Pokemon with a phenomenal history and legacy
Along with Lugia and Suicune, Ho-Oh is one of the mascots of the Legendary Pokémon of the Johto region. This beautiful Fire/Flying type bird Pokemon is almost never seen, although some have encountered it after storms. The earliest example of this is the tragic story of the brass tower that burned down during a terrible storm. After the fire went out and the citizens were left to mourn the three Pokémon that perished in the disaster, Ho-Oh appeared and revived the three Pokémon into legendary beasts.
In the present, Ash and Pikachu notice Ho-Oh next to a rainbow after an intense storm; this event will have a more significant role Pokemon the Movie: I Choose You! how Ash wished to fight her. Meanwhile, in the main series, Ho-Oh appears very rarely, with only a few being able to notice it. However, as seen in flashback, Ho-Oh is an incredible fighter and a master of his signature move, Sacred Fire.

Legendary Pokémon created by Unown
As soon as possible Pokemon films remain some of the most popular films in the franchise's roster, with the third title being one example. IN Pokemon 3: The Moviea researcher named Spencer Hale suddenly disappears while investigating an unusual Psychic-type Pokémon known as Unown, leaving his daughter Molly without a guardian as her mother disappeared before the events of the film. Grieving, Molly accidentally summons the Unown after examining her father's research and tries to create a new home and a new family. Acting as her new “father” figure is a manifestation of Entei vowing to take care of Molly.
Molly's desire to have a mother eventually results in the capture of Delia Ketchum, forcing Ash and his friends to navigate the palace Molly has created for her Unown. Because Entei was created with mystical powers that no one, not even the Stepfather, can understand, her powers are beyond that of a normal Entei. Ash's Charizard even enters the fray when he battles a unique Legendary Pokemon, though the two later end their battle once Molly begins to regret her actions. It is also Entei who fights against his own creators when Unown forces threaten the entire Johto region, and despite the odds he is able to defeat them.
