In the absence of Naruto and Sasuke Boruto the series pushes Boruto Uzumaki and his friends into crucial roles that they can no longer avoid. Even the older generation of shinobi are once again upping their game to offer support. No one in right now Boruto it matters more than these characters standing against Jura and the Shinju clones to protect the shinobi world.
Shikamaru Nara makes the most difficult decisions

After the village loses Naruto, Shikamaru takes over the responsibility of leading Konoha as its interim Hokage. Despite some reservations from the elders and even Sarada Uchiha herself, Shikamaru continues to prove how indispensable his intellect and calm leadership are in times of crisis.
Unlike Naruto, Shikamaru is willing to make the most difficult decisions for the sake of Konoha's survival. Even after Eida's omnipotence changed Boruto and Kawaki's positions, he remained composed and adaptable. His open approach to the situation continues to give Boruto the freedom and support he needs to defend the village from the Shinju clones.

Kashin Koji guides Boruto with clairvoyance
With Sasuke Uchiha out of commission, Kashin Koji ensures that Boruto will not face the Shinju clones alone. After Sasuke was turned into a tree, Kashin Koji guided Boruto with his Prescience shinjutsu, making him one step ahead of their opponent.
Kashin Koji's visions were a game changer as they not only unlocked Boruto's new power-ups, but also guided him during his battle against Jura in the Land of Wind and now in his fight against Mamushi in Konoha.
In addition, he also extends his foresight to Boruto's allies such as Inojin Yamanaka, who has recently mastered the Mind Transfer Formation jutsu. However, we're not entirely sure if he's actually fighting on the side of good, as he tends to withhold important information from Boruto and his friends.
Boruto Uzumaki teams up with Momoshiki
No one is more important than Boruto Uzumaki right now as he leads the forces fighting Mamushi in Konoha. He has plenty of reason to keep fighting, as his ultimate goal of restoring the Uzumaki household is far from being achieved, especially in a difficult time where most of Konoha is against him and Jura and the Shinju clones are still present in the narrative.
Additionally, Boruto recently partnered with Momoshiki Otsutsuki under the condition that Boruto would retain full control while utilizing Momoshiki's abilities. It's an exciting time for Boruto, who recently awakened the Byakugan thanks to Momoshiki. As one of the strongest in the series, he plays a key role in fending off enemies.
Sarada Uchiha is stronger than ever
Sarada Uchiha was always on the sidelines Boruto due to Kawaki and Boruto's messy situation. However, the series has been changing things up lately by allowing Sarada to fight on the front lines using the visual prowess she inherited from the all-powerful Uchiha clan.
During the Land of Wind mission, Sarada not only awakened her first Mangekyo Sharingan ability, Ohirume, but also single-handedly defeated the Shinju clone. More interestingly, Sarada is now ready to face any obstacle that comes her way, even if it means accepting her confusing feelings for Boruto Uzumaki. Like Boruto, Sarada is at an exciting time in her life where evolution is within reach.

Eida's life is in real danger
As a current user of Omnipotence, Eida is of great importance Boruto despite her inability to use the most powerful shinjutsu at will. After flipping Boruto and Kawaki's positions in the first volume of the manga series, he remains a vital factor in Konoha, keeping everyone on edge.
Right now, Eida faces real danger as Mamushi relentlessly searches for her location in Konoha in an attempt to absorb her. Worse, Shikamaru plans to use her as bait to take out Mamushi and his clones at once. While this is a great idea, the risk is too high for someone like Eida, who doesn't exactly have the skills to fight for herself.
Himawari Uzumaki has more potential than anyone else
When Naruto's baryonic mode drained Kurama's chakra, many fans thought that Kurama's era was over for good. However, an underage Kurama awakens in Himawari, giving her a more active role in Konoha while her parents are sealed in the Daikokuten dimension and her brother has become a wanderer.
Among the characters in the series, Himawari has so much potential to surpass even the most powerful shinobi with Kurama by her side. The revelation that she wasn't a jinchuurika, but a being closer to the Tailed Beasts, gives her an edge that could make her the perfect protector of the shinobi world.
Jura can destroy Konoha at any moment
While Mamushi is busy attacking Konoha with his clones, Jura remains a much more dangerous opponent Boruto. At any moment, he could unleash chaos on Konoha with his overwhelming power that even Boruto and Kawaki's combined forces might have trouble containing.
Fortunately, Jura is not an impulsive villain who resorts to large-scale destruction as soon as possible. Instead, he is more fascinated with humanity, from their behavior and personality to their emotions, making him a methodical threat. However, that doesn't mean Jura is tamer than the other villains in the series, as he can destroy Konoha if he wants to, at any time of the day.
Kawaki refuses to hand over Naruto Uzumaki
Kawaki holds the key to freeing Naruto Uzumaki and Hinata Hyuga from the Daikokuten dimension where they were imprisoned for a long time. If anything happened to him, Naruto's return would become much more difficult, putting the fate of Konoha at even greater risk.
Additionally, omnipotence still makes Kawaki appear like Boruto to almost everyone in Konoha and the other hidden villages. Everyone thinks highly of him, which gives him influence and respect that he has yet to fully earn.
What's more, Kawaki's power is also essential in defeating Jura and the Shinju clones. He is currently in a temporary truce with Boruto to deal with the pressing threat posed by the enemies to protect the village that Naruto has worked so hard to save.
