With the powerful Reinhard van Astre available to fight, Subaru and his group, filled with characters from all sides of the Royal Selection, come together to form certain factions to oppose specific Sin Archbishops in Priestella.

While much is being prepared, some interesting details emerge, with the revelation of the Tome of Wisdom still existing and Theresia van Astrea being brought back into the fold, leading to situations that could dramatically change events to come. In the closing moments, Emilia's turn against Regulus at the wedding ceremony and the arrival of Subaru and Reinhard give viewers a glimpse of the all-out war to come, with the episode setting the stage for an epic second half. season.

An emotional rollercoaster that sees Garfiel show his vulnerable side

5 Episode One – “Theatrical Malice”

A pleasant reunion of the royal selection abbreviated as the cult of witches asserts itself

In the one-hour season opener, the one-year time jump progresses smoothly as Subaru and the rest of Team Emilia travel to Priestello in hopes of trying to get the puck back. At the behest of Anastasia Hoshin, all of the Royal Selection candidates find themselves in town, with the pairing of certain characters making for some exciting fan service. Among the best moments of the episode are the explorations of Reinhard and Wilhelm van Astrea's difficult relationship, keeping Subaru with Wilhelm on the subject serious and interesting.

Despite the comfortable and satisfying content of the episode, the cliffhanger of Subaru and the residents of Priestell falling victim to the new character Sirius sends Subaru back in time, a situation the character has to deal with once again.

4 Episode Four – “Operation: Take Back the Government Office”

A Subaru war party full of eclectic characters takes on the cult of witches

Midway through Season 3, a war room and group is quickly set up in Priestella after devastating attacks by a witch cult. Led by characters like Subaru, Anastasia, Wilhelm and Julius, the protagonist is surrounded by many fan favorites as the team calculates their next steps. In response, a newly formed war party with a variety of characters take on a group of witch cult members near the town hall where Capella was stationed.

The combination and teamwork between characters like Crusch Karsten, Garfiel and Julius make for epic viewing. However, the episode's cliffhanger reveals another Sin Archbishop of Gluttony, Roy Alphard, making events even more unpleasant. Re: Zero's heroes as the arc heats up.

3 Episode Five – “A Dark Torrent”

Capella Displays Her Vile And Horrible Nature Against Crusch and Subaru

Despite their war plan, Subaru and his allies are fully aware of the problems they face, and the fearsome and terrifying Capella makes a shocking debut. With much hope resting on Subaru's shoulders, the protagonist tries to save innocent lives before he is destroyed by Capella, the shape-shifting sinful Archbishop of Lust.

The devastation that Capella wreaks on Crusch, Subaru, and the citizens of the government office illustrates the monstrous and insane behavior of the witch cult, whose members continue their devastating attack on Priestella. On other fronts, Emilia finds herself as the wife of Regulus, imprisoned with his other wives, a situation that further demonstrates the power of the witch cult and their sinful archbishops.

2 Episode 2 – “A Showdown Of Fire And Ice”

Subaru and friends shoot Sirius while Regulus arrives to steal Emilia in a dramatic twist

The second episode of Season 3 brought a lot of tension and shock when Subaru faced Sirius, well aware of the danger that the Sin Archbishop poses. After a gruesome death at the hands of the Sin Archbishop of Wrath, Subaru begins a series of events where he engages with various characters to help fight the threat.

What it does ensure is pure chaos as Reinhard, Beatrice, Subaru and Emilia shoot at Sirius to no avail, with the chaotic action sequences thrilling and engrossing. After Sirius and Emilia's epic battle, Regulus, who comes to steal the half-elf, leaves the episode on a cliff, leaving Subaru in despair as he watches as the one he loves is declared the bride of the vile Sin Archbishop Greed.

In Subaru's biggest show of the season, the exuberant protagonist literally takes center stage, acting as the voice and representative of a group that seeks to destroy a witch cult. At the beginning of the episode, with a short but interesting conversation between Al and Emilia using the communication mirrors, Subaru becomes the focus of the war party.

In one of the best moments of the season, Subaru delivers a heartfelt and emotional speech that touches the citizens, giving them hope against the witch cult while dispelling the authority of anger. Subaru's victory speech shows the growth of the characters since the beginning of the show, with the once selfish and ignorant protagonist eventually becoming a worthy champion for Emilia and Lugunica.
