Open world games offer a freedom that most other genres cannot. Grand Theft Auto 5 is a good example: the streets of Los Santos are huge, as are the surrounding wilderness areas. Is it the biggest open world yet and offers the most freedom? As popular as GTA 5 that is, it doesn't provide as customizable an experience as these other open-world games.
In these worlds, players can explore in different ways. They can create, create their characters and much more. If someone is looking for a way personalize your open world experiences, these are the games they should try next.
Minecraft
Build everything
There can be no more customizable experience than Minecraftbecause it's practically the equivalent of buying a bucket of LEGO bricks and dumping them out. Players won't be able to customize their avatar extensively at first, but DLC packs are available to change into different forms, including one of the latest crossovers with Dragon Ballfeaturing characters like Goku.
As for the game itself, players can farm for materials and then craft whatever they want, from weapons to blocks to furniture to houses. Decorating a cozy cottage is one way to live a quiet, square life, but so is restoring giant landmarks like the Empire State Building.
Outer worlds 2
Low intelligence is an advantage
Outer worlds 2 it's not as expansive as other open-world games, but there's more customization than most RPGs generally provide. Players can customize their character, including cybernetic limbs that serve no functional purpose but sure look cool. They can choose their backgrounds and skills, and most interestingly, players can choose the character flaws in the game when they make mistakes.
By giving players the ability to debuff their characters in exchange for small bonuses like great stealth for obnoxiously loud, cracking knees, Outer worlds 2 it allows players to go beyond the normal realm of RPG possibilities. It's not a typical approach to customization, but it's definitely unique.
Cyberpunk 2077
From junk to story
Cyberpunk 2077 also features cybernetic limbs since it's set in a cyberpunk future, but these prosthetics have more functions than Outer worlds 2 robotic limbs. Players can visit the ripperdoc to upgrade their bodies and get upgrades like new ways to virtually scan the environment or hack computers or blades that come out of their forearms.
Character creation can also enhance the chest and “junkies” in a number of ways, but this never appears again, although during the initial period of the game, men's third arms cut through their pants to hilarious effect. Aside from the body, which is the main way players can customize their experience, weapons can also be modified and adjusted. Players can also buy a house, a new car, and of course the requisite new clothes that any self-respecting RPG offers. Night City is waiting for players to live out their cyberpunk dreams, whether they want to be in it for the people or greedy corporate thugs.
Fallout 4
Home living in the Apocalypse
Fallout 4 starts off on a happy note, where players can customize the appearance of the main husbands and wives, but can only choose one of them to play as. They also get to choose their name, which actually matters in a sense, because Bethesda has programmed robotic butler Codsworth to recognize hundreds of names from Aaron to Tristan, which is a great but fleeting experience.
Once players reach the wastelands, they can find junk to use to build homesteads or craft weapons. Players can craft truly unique weapons, whether they prefer melee or ranged combat, all of which look appropriately cobbled together instead of being pristine models, giving them character. There's a lot more customization on offer as you progress, from armor to homesteads.
Palworld
Better Pokemon
Palworld it's like a combination Minecraft and Pokemon in all the best ways, even if it's only in early access. Players can customize their character and then hit the road without much guidance. They can start building a base by building a home, a workbench for crafting weapons, and most importantly, a facility for catching buddies.
Once captured, buddies have many uses outside of combat. Players can fight alongside them in battle, some can be used as weapons like flamethrowers, others can be ridden, and all buddies can be sent to their base to help keep it safe and sound. Buddies can be assigned to harvest, for example, as players explore more and more regions, compensating for the more trivial matters of survival.
Monster Hunter Wilds
And so does your kitty
Monster Hunter Wildslike most Monster Hunter game, allows players to customize their Hunter along with their feline companion, called Palico. What's great about this game is that players can change their physical appearance at their base whenever they want, and transmog options are unlocked for weapons and armor after the game.
Weapons and armor are a great way for players to customize their appearance during the game, as the basic goal is to go hunting, fight giant beasts, and then come home and craft better gear. It's a game loop that has dazzled fans for decades. Players can also set up camps in certain locations in the world, and these areas can also be customized with several decorations.
Saints Row 4
Your America, Your Rules
Saints Row 4 begins with players taking on the role of the US president, before being able to customize their appearance and voice. Some of the voice choices are comical, such as giving their character the voice of Nolan North, known for characters like Nathan Drake Uncharted and Deadpool in the character's games, who breaks the fourth wall in the story.
Also like Cyberpunk 2077the character's chest and junk can be adjusted to unfathomable dimensions. After an alien attack, players also gain superpowers that can be customized to follow certain track patterns, from flying to getting ice blasts.
Dragon Quest Builders 2
A more adventurous Minecraft
Dragon Quest Builders 2 is another similar game Minecraftalthough this one is more visually detailed. Players can create their character and in each major campaign chapter they will be tasked with rebuilding certain societies.
They can change the appearance of cities, one building at a time, but the most fun players can have is the multiplayer island, where four friends can form a company together. It's disconnected from the rest of the game, but regardless, it's a fun multiplayer feature and players can really let their hair down here.
