This post contains spoilers for Kingdom.
2025 turned out to be a phenomenal year for anime fans. Since the beginning of the year, fans have been treated to incredible titles such as Solo leveling and The Apothecary Diaries, followed by My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, Lord of Mysteries, and Dandadan.
Now that the year is coming to an end, fans will want to look back and see which anime was the funniest. Usually shonen anime take the cake home because there are just too many of them. However, 2025 saw the return of not one, but two excellent seinen anime, Kingdom and Grand Blue.

The new season presents Xin's next adventure
Yasuhisa Hara's Kingdom returned for its sixth season in October 2025. Fans have been waiting years to watch the anime sequel and learn about Xin's next adventure. Normally, seinen titles fail to attract the same number of viewers as their shonen counterparts, but this is not the case with Kingdom.
In fact, it would be disingenuous to say that Kingdom isn't a well-known series, especially since the manga has sold over 100 million copies. With its large fan base, it's no surprise that Kingdom has become one of the most talked about anime on social media in no time.
The sixth season of Kingdom is focused on the Bureaucratic Job Arc and the Western Zhao Invasion Arc. The Burrocrats Job arc has been ongoing for some time and ended in season six, after which the focus shifted to the Western Zhao Invasion arc. Overall, the anime's sixth season turned out to be a big hit, with fans praising Studio Signpost for its efforts. The sixth season isn't over yet, but there's no doubt that the quality will remain the same throughout.
In addition to Kingdom, Grand Blue was also in the running for Best Seinen Anime. The series returned after an absence of more than five years. Unlike Kingdom, Grand Blue focuses more on humor. It's not completely stuck in mindless fun, though. In fact, Grand Blue deals with some important real-life themes such as friendship and hardship.
Anime Studios needs to remake the old Seinen classics
Shonen anime have dominated the anime industry for ages. Not only are some shonen titles phenomenal, but they are much more marketable than seinen titles. However, there is a growing need for more studios to acquire seinen titles. If there was a seinen revolution, many titles would benefit greatly. One of the biggest beneficiaries would be Kentara Miura's Berserk.
It is generally accepted that the only respectable adaptation of Berserk is the 1997 one made by OLM Team Iguchi. The anime captured the essence of the story making it almost impossible to stop watching. In 2016, several studios attempted to create an adaptation that would pique the interest of fans. Unfortunately, the use of CGI caused fans to turn their backs on the anime.
There are currently no reports of any other studio trying their luck at adapting the Berserk anime, which is a real shame. The manga is amazing and adored by fans all over the world. It is the highest rated manga on MyAnimeList, above the likes of One Piece, Steel Ball Run, and Hunter x Hunter. Given the popularity of Berserk, it's quite shocking that a studio like MAPPA or Madhouse didn't decide to work on an adaptation.
Tokyo Ghoul is another seinen title that was ruined by the studio's reckless behavior. The first two seasons were fine, but then everything went downhill. The studio skipped many important moments for no apparent reason, which killed the hype of the entire series. To this day, fans have been hoping and waiting for news regarding the Tokyo Ghoul remake. Unfortunately, Studio Pierrot has shown no sign of wanting to do a remake.
