The best ways to farm each new material in Cult of the Lamb: Woolhaven

IN Cult of the Lamb: Woolhaventhere's quite a bit to keep you and your loyal followers busy. From defeating fearsome bosses to rebuilding Woolhaven to trying to survive the winter, your little lamb will have a lot on his plate. However, without a few new resources introduced with this expansion, you won't be able to do much.

Not only used to build all new buildings, these resources will help your cult stay warm and even serve as new currency to spend in Woolhaven to unlock various decorations or legendary weapons. Here's everything you need to know about how to get all the new key resources in Cult of the Lamb: Woolhaven.

How to get Rotburn

The most important resource in this expansion, Rotburn is what will keep your followers warm whenever the snow starts to fall. There are several ways you can get this resource and you can read a more detailed breakdown of this resource in our Rotburn specific guide. However, at a quick glance, you can get Rotburn from the following sources:

  • Dungeon chests
  • Destroying rotburn crystals in dungeons
  • We make them in the refinery
  • In the Rotburn Mines
  • Defeating enemies while the Lost Bones tarot card is active
  • Dead Rotten Followers
  • Defeat the boss

Of these methods the most consistent way to get Rotburn is to either collect it from Rotburn Mines or go to Rotburn specific nodes (burning skulls) as you venture into the dungeon. This is a resource you will always want to pick up as it is crucial to your survival and you will never have enough Rotburn while playing the expansion.

How to get wool

Player farming new materials in Cult of the Lamb: Woolhaven.

The main currency of this expansion is Wool is used to make clothes, buy items in Woolhaven and offer them on the graves of the deceased in the town. Wool is one of those materials that you can never have enough of, as some of the ghosts in town require 100 pieces of wool to get a reward from them! You can get wool in the following ways:

  • Livestock shearing
  • Dungeon Chests
  • Destruction of Frozen Ancestors in Dungeons
  • The Shearing Blade tarot card
  • Ascension to the Primal Beast

Cattle shearing will be the main way you earn wool, as the rest is largely down to chance during your dungeon run. Once you build a ranch and raise livestock, you can shear their fur to earn some wool. Now you'll have to spend wool to get the animals from Baraq, but it's definitely worth the investment.

actually I recommend building a large ranch If possible, a larger fenced area means you can populate it with more animals, making you a wave. Plus, once you've unlocked and built the Hutch, you can raise your livestock to save the wool you'd spend on Baraq. You should also upgrade your ranch once it becomes available, as it allows you to assign a follower to shear the animals for you!

How to get charged shards

Player farming new materials in Cult of the Lamb: Woolhaven.

Charged Shards are a resource that you will primarily use to either craft Decorations, Pure Yewbark, or Heaters to prevent snow from building up in your base. Unfortunately, you'll largely be limited to earning them during dungeons until near the end of the expansion, when you'll unlock Lightning Rods. You can get Charged Shards in the following ways:

  • Dungeon Chests
  • Destruction of generators in Dungeons
  • Lightning rods
  • Defeat the boss

Keep in mind that Charged Rods only appear in dungeons on Ewefall, so don't expect to get any if you explore inside the mountain!

Once you unlock the Lightning Rods, I'll place a few around the base and have them pile up charged shards whenever a blizzard hits. They will passively produce this material during the storm and you can collect this resource from the chests in front of each Lightning Rod. Because of how important heaters are, I definitely recommend building a few rods to make sure you're not completely dependent on good RNG during your dungeon run.

How to get Rotgrit

I'll deal with you Rotgrit is kind of a useless material and is only accessible when you get a level 3 furnace. Once this building is fully upgraded, it will have a chest in front that produces Rotgrit when burning fuel. Rotgrit's sole purpose is to use Refiner and convert it to Rotburn. This can be useful, but at this stage you should have enough rotburn mines built so that you never need to produce this material.

How to get Cursed and Clean Yewbark

Player farming new materials in Cult of the Lamb: Woolhaven.

The last two base materials in Woolhaven are Cursed and Pure Yewbark. Two sides of the same wooden board, Cursed Yewbark, can be obtained in the following ways:

  • Dungeon chests
  • Killing enemies in dungeons

Unfortunately, there is no consistent way to actually farm for Cursed Yewbark. With this material you will be largely at the mercy of the RNG as it only appears when running inside the mountain. That being said, it appears quite often in The Rot, so you should earn enough to create a Pure Yewbark just by playing the campaign alone.

Speaking of Pure Yewbark, you can get it by using the Refiner back at your base to create it. It will cost you create two Cursed Yewbark and two Charged Shards. Since you need Pure Yewbark to rebuild Woolhaven, you should craft some whenever possible to ensure you get access to all the new shows and quest boards as soon as possible!
