Earlier in 2025, it was confirmed that the Black Clover anime will return for its fifth season. Despite no mention of a release date, fans were happy that their favorite anime series would return sometime in the future. Now, after months of waiting, it's out the Black Clover anime will return in 2026. Again, the anime didn't share too many details about the project, but at least now there's no reason for fans to worry.
The release date information was shared during Jump Festa 2026 and was accompanied by a new key visual and trailer. The trailer features Asta, Yuno, Yami Sukehiro, and Nacht Faust as these characters will be the center of attention. Viewers can expect to see the foursome in action a lot more than the rest of the cast.

Moving on to production, Studio Pierrot has been confirmed to be in charge of the Black Clover anime. While the studio's record isn't entirely flawless, it has really hit the ball out of the park with its latest projects. So there is a good chance that Black Clover season 5 will be the best that has been released so far.

As for the release date, fans can expect the fifth season of Black Clover to be released after the premiere of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Arc. Therefore, the new season will be released either as part of the Summer 2026 lineup or the Fall 2026 lineup. It wouldn't make sense for the studio to release two big projects in the same month, though it's not entirely impossible either.

Studio Pierrot hasn't given any details on the length of the new season, but considering the anime is returning after a five-year absence, it shouldn't be short. Fans have waited nearly half a decade to see Asta and the rest of the characters back in action, so giving them just 10-12 episodes would be a grave injustice. Let's hope that Studio Pierrot has planned at least 24-26 episodes for the fifth season. If the studio is worried about time constraints, they can split it into two courses and release both in the same year.
Studio Pierrot must keep up with the current pace
Studio Pierrot needs to maintain the pace of the Black Clover anime that it set. At the start of the series, pacing was extremely problematic. The anime adapted one chapter per episode and sometimes a few extra pages from the next chapter. However, in the current era, the pace is unacceptable. In fact, all the big name anime have stuck with adapting a few chapters per episode. So Studio Pierrot needs to stick with it and cover more chapters in an episode. Of course, it shouldn't rush through the chapters, but rather adapt enough so that the pacing doesn't feel out of place.
The future of Boruto Anime is in jeopardy
That being said, the Boruto anime has always been polarizing. Die-hard fans tried to like it, but after months of full content, even they had to give up. The main problem with the adaptation was that there was never enough content for the anime to come out every week. Boruto manga is monthly, so it publishes 12 chapters during the year. On the other hand, the anime was weekly, which meant it released over 40 episodes (counting any breaks, otherwise it would have been 52). So it's clear why the Boruto anime was set up to fail. Hopefully, if the anime does return in the next few years, it will be seasonal rather than weekly.
