Pokemon Legends: ZA will receive a new trailer for its Mega Dimension DLC soon, and has already revealed five new Mega Evolutions as well as the expansion's main gameplay loop. However, even before the hyped DLC is released, you may have more content to tackle in-game if you haven't completed all the side missions or the 15 Challenger Ticket battles for Infinite ZA Royale (or even 20 for the extra special side mission). Animals like Pokemon Legends: ZAZygarde, Xerneas, and Yveltal are all available after the end of the main story, but can now also be used in ranked battles from Season 3 onwards. Although they are strong, they are all being washed away by a new threat.
Battles in Pokemon Legends: ZA is very different from what the series has offered so far, as turn battles have always revolved around speed levels, strategies to make slow Pokemon go first, or moves like Tailwind to make fast mons even faster. However, speed is not that important Pokemon Legends: ZAunless you specifically want the creature to have faster cooldowns. This is a marginal advantage in the current meta, so naturally bulky Pokemon can be much better than the competition, which is why Vaporeon is such a strong tidal wave right now.
It's official: Say Hello to Pokemon Legends: ZA's New Mega Darkrai and Heatran
Pokemon Legends: ZA has 26 confirmed new Mega Evolutions, but dataminers have already found a new Mega for both Darkrai and Heatran.
Vaporeon is practically unbeatable in Pokemon Legends: ZA
Given that Pokemon Legends: ZA makes Pikachu OP and competitively viable, no wonder an underdog like Vaporeon can shine. However, you may have underestimated how much it can really handle in your ranked battles. There are several reasons why Vaporeon is OP in Pokemon Legends: ZAand are as follows:
-
Vaporeon has access to Calm Mind, which improves Special Attack and Special Defense stats. I personally run 252 HP, 100 Defense, 156 Sp. An offensive, low-key Vaporeon with an Expert Belt that bulks up against physical attackers, and does wonders with Surf, Hydro Pump, and Ice Beam as offensive moves.
- Pokemon Legends: ZAThe best Dragon types are all ranked battles, and Garchomp or Zygarde are pretty much guaranteed to appear on at least one team per match. Unless they're using bulkier sets or items like Focus Sash, the upgraded Vaporeon will one-shot them with Ice Beam even without STAB.
-
The format is filled to the brim Pokemon Legends: ZACharizard, Excadrill, Yveltal, Delphox, Chandelure, Dragonite, Stunfisk and Hippowdon. They are all very powerful, but most of the time they will one-shot Vaporeon with Surf, Hydro Pump, or Ice Beam if the mind is calm.
-
Most players use the standard 252 HP, 252 Attack, or Special Attack set for their Pokemon, which means they won't often lack bulk. This allows a calm mind-buffed Plus Moves in Pokemon Legends: ZA almost anything at once.

Vaporeon is only weak to grass and electricity, while resisting steel, fire, water, and ice.
-
The biggest threats to Vaporeon are:
- Ampharos – It's a bulkier Pokémon with access to Light Screen, and many players use Magnet on it with Thunderbolt, which can one-shot Vaporeon or reduce it to low HP.
- Glaceon – Has access to Freeze-Dry, which can deal massive damage to Vaporeon if buffed by Calm Mind, and items like Life Orb or Never-Melt Ice if not one-shotted.
- Metagross – Resists Ice, is quite fast and bulky, has very high Attack, and has access to Thunder Punch, which means Vaporeon can be in trouble against Metagross. A Heavy Slam timed correctly will also dodge all Vaporeon attacks.
- Pikachu – While it will be one-shotted by a powered-up Vaporeon due to its low stats, it can also one-shot it in return with a charge while holding Light Ball and using Volt Tackle.
- Xerneas – If Geomancy is boosted and using Thunderbolt/Thunder, Xerneas could one-shot Vaporeon, depending on the item held, or reduce it to low HP.
Grass types in Pokemon Legends: ZA rated battles are not very common and are weak to Ice Beam anyway. For example, the new Mega Chesnaught is quite bulky, but will still be a one-shot from Vaporeon with a calm mind boost with Ice Beam.
Why Vaporeon can win you any match in Pokemon Legends: ZA
All of these reasons make Vaporeon one of the best Pokemon to use Pokemon Legends: ZAbecause it can counter most metas. Additionally, Pokemon like Skarmory, Gyarados, and Mega Feraligatr, which are very strong and fairly common physical attackers, can still have a tough matchup with Vaporeon if it's loaded with Calm Mind and attacks first. I have a shiny S-sized Vaporeon that I use all the time, and whether it's its size or the fact that few players know how powerful it is, I can blast opponents across the map with ease.
