Fallout 4 might just be the new Skyrim because Bethesda can't stop revealing new editions. Of course, it's a long way from reaching the same number, but Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition has made another notch for the latest main game in the series. Even though it doesn't go exactly as planned for the developers, players kind of expected it.
There is already a lot of confusion about whether players even need to buy the Anniversary Edition, as many already own a lot of its offerings thanks to the Game of the Year Edition. In that case, just purchase the DLC Creations Bundle. However, whatever you do, this whole ordeal has broken the game for many players.
Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition broke the game and mods
If you happen to have purchased the Anniversary Edition, there's a chance the game may be broken and the textures won't load or appear very late (thanks to GamesRadar). While this kind of chatter is typical of Bethesda, breaking a game that came out a decade ago surprised even the studio's most die-hard fans.
But that's not all. Since the game came out so long ago, the community mostly keeps it alive with mods. In an unfortunate but expected turn of events, most Fallout 4 mods have been broken with the arrival of the new update.
If you've already purchased the Game of the Year edition, all you need is the Creations Bundle. However, players can't help but feel that Bethesda designed this move to break existing mods and replace them with a new paid system. This led to the DLC launching to mostly negative reviews on Steam.
Bethesda has addressed the issues plaguing those who purchased the Anniversary Edition, saying it is “investigating an issue affecting the delivery of Creations Club content after purchasing the Creations Bundle or Anniversary Edition.” However, the bigger problem is that the game itself is broken for many, and most of the mods created over the years since the game was released no longer work.
