For the past week, Fallout fans have been bickering non-stop about Caesar in the Prime Video series; 'Why isn't he using a squeeze glove!?', 'Why did Amazon recast John Doman?', 'Why is the Legion suddenly comfortable with pre-war technology?' All because of a short clip showing Caesar with an AK-47.
In what is fast becoming an evergreen, wait a few days and find out! You don't have to throw mininukes at the showrunners and burn the forums to the ground in protest every week, because those questions will be answered in the very next episode.
Spoilers for Fallout Season 2 Episode 3.
The 'Caesar' we have seen so far is not the same Edward Sallow who founded the Legion, but a new leader who took his place when he died. And his death is something New Vegas set the stage for back in 2010.
Sallow revealed to a courier at his camp that he has a terminal brain tumor, making it increasingly difficult for him to manage the day-to-day operations of his Legion. So even if he had survived the Battle of Hoover Dam, his terminal illness would undoubtedly have overtaken him by the time of the show 15 years later. His death, paralleling that of the real Julius Caesar, threw the Legion into utter chaos and sparked a bloody civil war among his supporters.
Caesar's legion is in the throes of a civil war with two contenders fighting for the crown

Lucy enters the camp on her ill-fated rescue mission to find it literally split down the middle, with two Caesars vying for Sallow's throne. His corpse, now a skeleton (and wearing a squeeze glove!), has a note buried in his pocket naming his true successor. Whoever it is probably doesn't matter now given how long the Legion has been at a standstill, though it's safe to assume it would be Legate Lanius since he'll take over if you kill Sallow in New Vegas.
As for her next leader, we may already have an answer. Based on the early trailers and the fact that the Ghoul just punched a hole in the center of the camp, finally culminating the civil war, it looks like Macaulay Culkin's character, whoever that may be, will pick up the pieces after the battle and take up the mantle of Caesar, reuniting the Legion under one banner. If it's Lanius, expect even more discourse, but for now Amazon remains tight-lipped about its true identity.
