Magic: The Gathering has revealed a bunch of new cards from the Marvel Super Heroes Universes Beyond set. Featuring the likes of Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow and other Avengers, this set will be released in June 2026 to coincide with the release of Avengers: Doomsday. Speaking of which, there sure are a lot of Doctor Doom cards.
Doctor Doom by Robert Downey Jr. will play a big role in the future of the MCU, so it makes sense that the set would include various cards featuring the villain and some of his iconic moments. What we didn't expect, however, was a card referencing his hilarious Horn of Greed “teeth” moment from the old comics, which has since become a meme.
Doctor Doom features heavily in the latest MTG Beyond universes
In the new cards, not only the heroes shine, but also a lot of villains. Baron Zemo, Kang the Conqueror, Super-Skrull, and even Galactus are featured in this preview, but none of them are a match for Doctor Doom, who gets four cards all to himself. The cards not only feature original art and comic covers, but even some famous comic panels.
The Horn of Greed card is probably the most hilarious, featuring Golden Age Doom blowing his horn with a “cog” sound effect and saying “Madman! Doctor Doom does whatever he wants!” to a begging Namor. Some of the other panel cards include the Fantastic Four facing Galactus and the Avengers fighting Loki, but none of them are as famous as Toot Doom.
Magic: The Gathering might tempt me to come back, even if I don't like the other universes
Everything in moderation.
It is evident that MTG wants to feature Doom prominently as he is the new big bad of the MCU. The Fantastic Four is also rich, with everyone getting their own card, as well as a pair that includes all four. There are also some relatively unknown characters like Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.
