Although the adorable Mouse Pokémon, Pikachu, remains the face of the Pokémon franchise, another Generation I Pokémon has been sharing the spotlight in recent years. That Pokémon is Eevee, a fan-favorite normal type with currently eight different evolutions that fans call “Eeveelutions.” Although Eevee remains an extremely popular Pokémon, most fans also adore its evolved forms.
There really is an Eeveelution for every trainer, from the docile Leafeon to the energetic Jolteon. As such, Eevee and her family members also make frequent appearances in the original Pokemon anime. Each Pokémon is different in terms of power, and some Eeveelutions have particularly prominent screen time compared to others.

Leafeon gains power through photosynthesis
Leafeon only fights when necessary
Leafeon, which was introduced in IV. generation, was initially obtainable only after playing the game Pokemon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl via the Eevee gift. When the player reaches a mysterious moss-covered rock and levels up nearby, the player's Eevee will evolve into a Leafeon. As it evolves, Verdant Pokémon become much calmer. In fact, he's so gentle that Leafeon isn't one to fight most of the time.
Unlike other Eeveelutions, Leafeon does not hunt prey; rather, it gathers energy by absorbing sunlight like a plant. In addition to acting as a food source, Leafeon is also able to use the sunlight it has collected for powerful grass-type attacks such as Solar Beam. Leafeon debuted through Zoey, a Pokemon Coordinator and one of Dawn's rivals. This particular Leafeon had several unique moves in its list such as Leaf Blade, yet it was able to combine Aerial Ace and Psywave to defeat Nando's Pokémon.
A Flareon's flames can be over 3000 degrees Fahrenheit
Flareon's fluffy fur helps her control her body temperature
One of the first known Eeveelutions, the Flareon, can be obtained if the player uses a Firestone on their Eevee. As it evolves, a Flame Pokémon's fur becomes even fluffier, changing to red and yellow instead of brown and cream. Flareon also develops a flame sac inside its body that allows it to store air and heat it to temperatures in excess of 3000 degrees Fahrenheit. In battle, Flareon will use this air to create powerful fireballs.
Pokémon Trainer Pyro, one of Eevee's brothers, uses Flareon as his Pokémon partner. Pyro highly praises his Pokémon for helping him in battles, even though this Flareon's only known move is Fire Spin. However, several Pokémon coordinators from the anime are known to have their own powerful Flareons for both competition and battle. Examples of these include Savannah from the Hoenn region and Ursula from the Sinnoh region.
Vaporeon is often found near sandy beaches
Vaporeon becomes invisible in bodies of water
Like his fellow Generation I Eeveelutions, Vaporeon evolves using a stone; in this case limescale. When Eevee evolves into Vaporeon, it becomes more fish-like, adopting fins and the ability to breathe underwater like many other aquatic Pokémon. However, a key feature of Vaporeon's power is its ability to dissolve in water, making it invisible. This ability allows the Bubble Jet Pokemon to be an amazing underwater hunter.
Vaporeon is usually found near bodies of water, especially beaches, yet has been known to travel with trainers. The Bubble Jet Pokémon debuted alongside Rainer, one of the Eevee brothers. However, it has since been shown with several other trainers Pokemon world. One Vaporeon, owned by Trainer Galea, had a particularly agile water type that helped power up Ash's Corphish.
Espeon is able to predict his opponent's actions
Espeon is extremely loyal to its trainer
Generation II saw the debut of two new Eeveelutions, Espeon and Umbreon Pokemon world. Unlike the first three Eeveelutions, Espeon and Umbreon evolved through the strength of their friendship with their trainers, as well as the time of day. If an Eevee that likes its trainer evolves during the day, it will become an Espeon. The Sun Pokemon's velvety fur allows it to sense its surroundings, a skill it learned to protect its trainer.
Espeon's first and most important appearance was through Sakura, a trainer who was also the younger sibling of the famous Kimono Sisters. It was because of the bond between Espeon and Sakura that the Kimono sisters allowed her to travel around the world; since then she traveled not only all over Johto, but Kanto as well. The villainous Espeon also appeared Pokemon Heroesowned by Team Rocket Trainer Annie. It appears using several powerful Psychic-type moves, even on humans and Pokémon.
Glaceon can freeze the surrounding air
Glaceon can turn his fur into frozen needles
Like Leafeon, a fellow Eeveelution debuting in the Sinnoh region, Glaceon was initially only able to evolve by finding a mysterious rock; since then, Eevee now reacts to Leaf Stone as well as Ice Stone. However, the original way to evolve Glaceon was even harder than Leafeon's method. Instead of finding Glaceon Rock, a stone slab of glowing ice, in the forest, the trainer would have to travel deep into Route 217, where the ice rock is located in the middle of a terrible blizzard. Once Eevee evolves, it becomes not only immune to the surrounding hail, but thrives on it.
Glaceon's two known abilities are Snow Cloak and Ice Body, which either boost his ability to dodge attacks or regain lost HP. The most famous Glaceon in the anime is the one belonging to May, the Pokemon Coordinator and one of Ash's former traveling partners. Originally seen as Eevee, the Fresh Snow Pokémon debuted its new abilities against Team Rocket. It also battled against Dawn's Piplup, and although it was defeated, it proved to be a worthy opponent thanks to moves like Ice Shard and Secret Power.
Jolteon's Fur generates powerful volts of static electricity
Jolteon is known as a sensitive pokemon
Jolteon is one of the three original Eeveelutions and is known to be the hardest to train, at least according to the Pokédex. Because Lightning Pokémon is easily angered, it often grows in strength. This power can be difficult for both the Pokemon and the trainer to control, so whoever is taking care of Jolteon must remain patient. However, with the right training, Jolteon can become a wonderful and loyal travel companion. The Lightning Pokémon is easily recognizable due to its spiky fur, which it can shoot like missiles.
Aside from the Jolteon owned by Sparky and Ethan, many powerful Jolteons have been spotted outside of the capital. Pokemon anime. One prominent example is the Jolteon used by Red v Pokémon Originswho remained one of the main members of his team. This Jolteon had a strong sense of justice as his Trainer and fought bravely against Team Rocket after meeting Cubone. Meanwhile in Pokemon evolutionvarious Jolteons were considered fighting partners of Sayo and even Trace.
Umbreon's power grows stronger under the moonlight
Umbreon is a master at hunting in the dark
Like Espeon, Umbreon can only be obtained if the evolving Eevee truly trusts its Trainer; however, that Eevee would have to evolve at night to become an Umbreon. As it evolved under the moonlight, Umbreon is most powerful when in the dark and near the moon. During this event, Umbreons' fur rings begin to glow and they can see their prey even in complete darkness. When Umbreon is angry, it secretes poisonous sweat, which allows it to use Toxic despite being dark-type.
Although Umbreon can certainly be somewhat menacing compared to its fellow Eeveelutions, the Moonlight Pokémon has often been seen with Hero Trainers. One such example is Gladion, a famous young trainer from Alola who saved Eevee when he was a toddler. Since then, Umbreon has remained a loyal friend to his trainer and has grown even more so over time. Another example is Gary's Umbreon, which was both happy and strong thanks to Gary's great training.
Eevee can learn several powerful attacks on her own
Chloe's Eevee is based on the starter from Generation VII
With how popular Evolution Pokémon has become since its debut in Generation I, it's no surprise that Eevee is now considered a secondary mascot alongside Pikachu. However, while Pikachu can only evolve in Raich, Eevee has several different evolutions that make it an excellent member of any team. As a normal type, Eevee can learn several moves before evolving, although some trainers choose not to evolve Eevee. One such example is Pokémon trainer Chloe, who has a female Eevee as her Pokémon partner.
Chloe's Eevee is based on the Eevee starter Pokemon: Let's Go Eevee!the normal type that never wants to evolve. In the case of Chloe's Eevee, she caused a lot of confusion with the researchers because she never evolved despite being exposed to various evolution stones. Chloe was able to figure out that Eevee was indecisive and nervous about the development, and promised to be her friend no matter what path she took. Eevee proved to be an amazing fighter even when not evolved, able to use powerful moves such as Hydro Pump and Psychic via Copycat.
Sylveon is one of the most iconic Fairy-type Pokémon
Sylveon is both adorable and cunning
The list's recently debuted Eeveelution, Sylveon, arrived alongside the start of Generation VI and the premiere of the Fairy type. Although Fairy-type Pokémon are weak to Poison and Steel-type moves, they are strong against Dark, Fighting, and Dragon-types that were once only weak to their own type. Most interesting of all, Fairy-type Pokémon, including Sylveon, are immune to Dragon-type moves. Sylveon is characterized by its webbed antennae, which it uses along with its calming aura to distract its prey before attacking.
Aside from Valerie and Penny's own Pokemon, one of the most famous Sylveon is the one owned by Ash's friend Serena, a Pokemon artist. Originally a dance-loving Eevee, Sylveon was able to evolve thanks to her trainer's encouragement. She maintained this love of performing even after she evolved, using her new look and abilities to dazzle audiences. Although the fairy type can be a little shy, Sylveon still loves to be the center of attention and will use his moves to protect his friends as he trains to compete in the Contest Spectaculars.
