Some Devil fruit powers are simply more convenient than others. While there's something to be said for straight-up combat utility, the other Devil Fruits prove their worth by having said power. To some extent, this can be measured by the ways in which users were able to re-use their powers outside of combat (or perhaps even the different ways in which they did so in combat).

It should be noted that it is difficult to definitively quantify this, as ultimately the creativity of the users is what really comes through One piece. That said, this list will show how some particularly creative users have used different tactics to make the most of their versatile Devil Fruit abilities.

Ope Ope no Mi

User: Trafalgar D. Water Law

• A type of devil fruit: Paramecia

The Ope Ope no Mi is a Devil Fruit that allows its user to surgically reconstruct anything or anyone without causing them pain in the latter case. If the user is already a trained medical professional, it can be used to perform complex surgical procedures where otherwise lethal objects can be removed without harm. However, this can also be used in combat to disorient enemies, dismember them, or even switch their bodies by transplanting personalities with them, as Law has done with various Straw Pirates.

For this and most of his abilities to work, the person being operated upon must exist in a spatial field known as a ROOM. In it, the user can freely exchange things. As the Devil Fruit awakens, the ROOMS can exist remotely and cling to foreign objects rather than the user.

This devil fruit is masterfully matched with a medical professional like Law, who can cure virtually any disease with it. However, the characteristic ability of this devil fruit is eternal youth surgery, where through currently unknown means, the user can kill themselves in exchange for the eternal youth of the person they are operating on. Doflamingo claims that this, combined with the currently obscure treasure held by the world's nobles, can be used to rule the world, possibly forever.

Nikyu Nikyu no Mi

User: Bartholomew Kuma

• A type of devil fruit: Paramecia

The Nikyu Nikyu no Mi permanently attaches palm pads to whoever consumes it. These paws are capable of sending things flying. This may apply to individual people as Kuma sent all the Straw Hats flying to where they spent most of their time. However, this can also apply to aspects such as physical pain, memories, illness and more.

In particular, Kuma removed and stored memories relevant to his and Bonney's past in an attempt to protect her from all the pain he had suffered throughout his life. Kuma is also able to attack with his palms using compressed air and use them as a method of defense. Kuma can also use them for transport by propelling them with his paws. Because this ability is permanently attached to his body, he wears gloves on his hands when not in use.

Hito Hito no Mi

User: Tony Tony Chopper

The Hito Hito no Mi gives its user human-level intellect. While of little use to humans and beings of equivalent intelligence, it was perfectly suited to Tony Tony Chopper, a reindeer shunned by his kind. After gaining human intellect, Chopper eventually became an assistant to quack doctor Hiriluk, who adopted him as his adopted son. After his death, Hiriluk's girlfriend, Dr. Kureha, turned Chopper into a full-fledged doctor as a sort of final favor for her late friend. He spent most of his time as her assistant.

Chopper was eventually invited by Luffy to join the Straw Hat Pirates. Chopper's Devil Fruit, like most Zoans, allows him to transform into three different forms at base. However, Chopper used his medical expertise to create a drug known as the Rumble Ball. His various transformations benefit him in various forms of combat, ultimately making him something of a Swiss Army Knife in terms of combat ability. Chopper can also translate between animals and humans as he is still able to understand animal speech after his transformation.

Pen Pen no Mi

User: Charlotte Perospero

• A type of devil fruit: Paramecia

The Pen Pen no Mi allows the user to create and control cookies. Charlotte Perospero usually molds the candy she creates into various objects, but not exclusively for combat. His candy is particularly robust and has been able to withstand attacks such as Bege's Big Father and the superhuman abilities of the Vinsmoke brothers. He also created functional mechanisms such as escalators entirely out of his candy. After losing his arm in a duel with Pedro after the mink committed a suicide bombing, Perospero made a candy prosthetic arm for himself.

Perospero has also been shown to create several candies that can resist the seas, a particularly desirable trait given that he and many of his crew are Devil Fruit users.

Doru Doru no Mi

User: Galdino “Mr. 3”

• A type of devil fruit: Paramecia

The Doru Doru no Mi allows the user to create wax from their body and control it. It looks like a pretty pedestrian ability in some ways, but in Galdin's hands it's more than just a weapon. Besides the basic molding of wax into weapons (a factor supported by its steely consistency after curing), he demonstrated many other uses for his wax. He created several types of wax barriers, taking advantage of its resistance to acidity. He created restraints, from basic locks to an elaborate set of candles that functioned as a torture device with fatal consequences. He made fully functional keys that can be used to unlock various places in the absence of an actual lock key.

He made dummies of himself and others in order to throw people off, though this strategy required the assistance of his partner in baroque works, Marianne, aka. Miss Goldenweek, who would paint them for full accuracy. In addition to his ability to mold wax, Mr. 3 also managed to use it to power his personal ship, an ability normally reserved for Logie users.

Baku Baku no Mi

User: Wapol

• A type of devil fruit: Paramecia

The Baku Baku no Mi it allows the user to merge with whatever they have eaten, allowing them to consume inedible objects (and creatures) as if they were actually edible. Wapol managed to use this to create several forms fit for battle by transforming the food he ate into a part of his body. He is also able to combine multiple eaten items into new items. He used this skill to combine his two strongest men into a single fighter. It was also this ability that allowed him to create a shape-memory alloy known as wapometal, a byproduct of binging on garbage, which he continued to do after becoming homeless.

His trash inadvertently became toys that he kept selling, restoring the former wealth and prestige he enjoyed as the ruler of the Drum Empire. This led to the world government giving him a new domain, the Evil Black Drum Kingdom. Wapol's transformations and tools seem to be bound only by his appetite, so his Devil Fruits are very diverse indeed.

Nomi Nomi no Mi

User: Dr. Vegapunk (formerly?)

• A type of devil fruit: Paramecia

The Nomi Nomi no Mi was a Devil Fruit eaten by Dr. Vegapunk. After the death of his main body but the continued survival of alternate selves such as satellites, it is unclear what happened to him. It is clear that this Devil Fruit is responsible for increasing his intellect exponentially. Knowledge itself is seemingly preserved in his disembodied brain even after his death.

Although Vegapunk was already a very intelligent man, Nomi Nomi no Mi allowed him to remember everything he had ever learned in perfect detail. This allowed him to discover and understand many scientific advances known within One piece universe. However, this all came at the cost of his head and brain constantly growing to accommodate the new knowledge he had, but with his intellect he managed to get around even this. He converted his ever-expanding brain into Punk Records, a library that his brain could connect to and remotely access the knowledge he possessed.

This knowledge included researching various advances in devil fruit research, weaponry, and virtually every other field of science. Dr. Vegapunk was also able to split his being into six separate entities, known as satellites, each embodying an aspect of him. These satellites were also connected to Punk Records and could collectively receive his knowledge. Unfortunately, it backfired when York, the Satellite embodying his aspect of greed, stabbed the others and tried to use the knowledge she had access to as a bargaining chip to become a World Noble. This gambit succeeded, but soured her relationship with the other satellites, who she was more than willing to let die.

Punk Records was temporarily discontinued due to the World Government raid on Egghead, but most of the surviving satellites eventually wish to publish it. Ultimately, the gathering and understanding of various forms of research was done by this devil fruit, allowing its user to gain this knowledge. This singular purpose has been extrapolated to innovate on a level unmatched throughout the series, with the many forms of research he has been able to capture and advance, giving him unparalleled versatility.
